Just remember that most people feel as though the 82 last on a boot fits larger than on a shoe. For example, I sized down in my Galways by half a size compared to my Chelsea and Wells.

Interestingly my Shannons (both on 82) fit quite similarly to my numerous shoes in 82. I picked up a pair of Galways in D82, which are narrower than my E82.

Ok, so my first experiment with EG sizing was unsuccessful. Luckily
Skaok offers to make stock models in any size, without MTO charges. So a dark oak Westminster is in my future, and i hope i can use my same TG73 size of 10.5 G width for this EG 888 last. I tried the 11 F on the 82 last, and the toe box was great, but the instep & heel were too voluminous. I'm hoping the 10.5 G width will reduce those two areas a bit.

It is sad that it's still so easy for me to waste so much money at this stage of sartorial knowledge. I considered that even if i go to, lets say Leffot (which requires a flight), they will more than likely not have G width models for me to try first, so they will also have to make an estimated guess based on my foot measurements. The best shot would be for me to attend some kind of EG trunk show (or visit their store in England), and have them size me themselves. As i write this, it seems to me that i should just hold off on EG until such a scenario presents itself.
WHY MUST PROPER SHOE SIZING ELUDE ME SO?! #iGentProblems

Sizing is why I've avoided exploring new brands recently. I'm curious to own a pair of St. C but I've established well fitting lasts from EG and G&G (Alden too but that's more for fun on the weekends).

Right!?! haha. I pretty much have a 6 shoe M-F work rotation going. I always end up wearing these once a week. Too nice not to grab in the morning.

I really want to consolidate for this purpose. I was about to wear my Ancels but changed to my G&G Rothchilds instead.

Yes it certainly looks to be the 82 last

Yes. I am certain of it.

Thanks guys! I ordered them last night. Thrilled they had my size and hopefully know I will know for sure how the 82 fits my fit.

FWIW, I have the same size 82-lasted Galway as I do 82-lasted Wells.

Sure, I think most people do. But most people AFAIK still think that the boot version of the 82 fits somewhat larger than the shoe version. Most people don't think the difference is big enough to size down though, but the difference is still there. What's your experience when comparing your Wells and Galways?

They fit similarly. I have two Galways on the 82. I have various shoe models on the 82. Frankly, my Beaulieu (oxford) is probably my most generously fitting 82 lasted model.

I'm also the same size across all my 82-lasted shoes and boots, though my 82 Galways feel a little larger than the others. But not enough to warrant sizing down. ymmv

2 votes here for 82 last
width

Missed this yesterday, Namor. A great shot, my friend. Had it happen to me more than once.

Because you are an American who wishes to wear English shoes that aren't sold in many places in England, much less America. That and the shoe world does not operate off standardization. A *****.

@JubeiSpiegel I can almost guarantee you that Leffot will not have any brand in a G width size...as their inventory is very limited.

Your best bet is to wait until you are in the UK or can attend an EG trunk show.

I'll never get tired of seeing photos of you guys wearing the Dovers. Just a year ago I was averse to split toe derbys and could not imagine purchasing/wearing one, but the Dover sets the bar for the split toe style and now I am in search of my first pair. The proposed GMTO by tifosi for the mahogany CC is heavily tempting me, but it would be my first EG purchase and the sticker shock might be too much for me.

The Dover is like the anti-split toe, split toe. The pic in my avatar...now that is a split toe! The Dover is all about the hand sewn apron. It's just beautiful.

I agree. You should join our Dover MTO. The sticker shock will be a lot less than if you wanted that makeup without 5 other people!
