I was speaking to Mr. Christopher Gumbs (many of you have probably met Chris before, he used to be the store manager at EG Jermyn Street, now he is the new sales director after Xavier left the company a couple of months back) yesterday during our Edward Green Trunk Show and got some more info in regards of why EG is so restrictive with Cordovan boots. Basically the only boot they will make in Cordovan is the Alderley. The reason is they can't get the Cordovan to shape well at the leg with boot patterns, it ruins the shell (I expect that this is why Carmina won't make Jodhpurs or Chelseas in Cordovan).

But the Alderley is not bad bad choice for an EG Cordovan make-up? What say you?

The debate has been going during the week-end, so Patrik, is whiskey shell an option? :stirpot:

I really want to hop on the Shannons via Skoak but I already have the C&J Somervilles... 2 dark brown balmoral cap toe boots might be a little too redundant. :embar:

I would rather have in shell than calf if she'll is available.

You guys...I'm away for a weekend and all of a sudden we're talking Alderley in Whiskey Shell? I have to say I really love the idea, but from a commercial point of view it's not doable for me to stock it. It's also very unclear if EG can get hold of shell, probably not. So I'm still willing to fill any extra slots needed to make the Edwardian Alderley but I have to pass for a Whiskey Shell version.

Thanks, found out they also have them at the Georgetown location. Talked to a sales rep yesterday after ordering the BB Galway and she indicated that if the pair I ordered doesn't fit, call immediately and they'll send me another. I ordered the 9US which may be small, depending on whether the toe box is larger than the 888. Shipped yesterday and I'll have them Monday.

I MUST HAVE THE SHANNON MTO!

Keep in mind also that any Brooks Brothers store can have the Galway and the other makeups they regularly stock transferred to any of their locations anywhere in the US. Here in Atlanta, they were happy to transfer in two models (a single monk strap in (nutmeg?) suede and the Asquith in cloud). You can see what they normally stock on their website. I purchased the Asquith last Thursday during BB's 30%-off-everything corporate sale for just under $945 including EG trees.

On another topic, I wish I could find the Asquith in Edwardian somewhere - a lighter color calf is something my wardrobe is lacking and Skoat carries it but only in the F width. Has anyone every tried phoning the main EG company boutique in London to purchase over the phone and will they ship? I imagine this question has already been covered in this thread somewhere so pardon the question but if someone could give me a brief answer on that point I would appreciate it.

Ah well, that's probably the best for my ecoomy anyway. When do you plan on opening for the edwardian version?
