Dare I ask why so many prefer a two tone/contrast Galway? In all seriousness, I am genuinely curious about why so many prefer this to a single material?
The Galway makeup has been popular for ages, but this contrast desire seems so fashionable recently. Would someone care to explain? Thank you.

I agree a cordovan Galway could be very cool in any iteration, particularly if not in some outlandish color. Cheers.

Although I have one in the works that is all one leather, this is more of a true gentleman country boot. It's a Veldtschoen in Rosewood Country Calf. However the other two I have are in two different leathers. For me the stitching on the side of the shaft is a perfect place to use two different types of leather or material. The two different colors and or textures just adds more character to an already great looking boot.

I completely agree: stick to simple choices for classic shoes - will make them last even longer imo.

I'm probably in but only if it will be single tone.

For the record, I was not saying I dislike the two tone/contrast Galways; some of them look quite smart. However, my favorite Galway makeups tend to be a single material and tone.

@dddrees I really dig that rosewood country calf makeup. If I was in the market for a $1000+ pair of boots to beat up on I definitely would have participated in that.

I'd been thinking about getting a pair of Galways in the tougher wearing configuration for a bit. Thank goodness Skoak came along with this makeup, that's all it took to make me pull the trigger.

Second thoughts and Galways.

The only second thoughts I've ever had is whether I should have gotten more. LOL

I completely understand this sentiment. I don't know whether to order this, or whether to wait for a possible, and perhaps unlikely, Heather Gorse restock. Decisions, decisions....

Well, not saying all of them look bad, I just think sometimes people tend to go too far with contrast/two tone combinations. I guess I'm a "less is more" kind of guy.

The all Rosewood boot is awesome but I would love to see that boot done up in something lighter like Almond Country calf

At least the Pre-Order for Skoak is open until March 31st so you still have a month to think about getting in with them. I understand your conundrum, however look on the bright side. The very worst thing would be that you would end up with 2 pairs of one of the most fabulous boots you could possibly own. Besides, I'm sure for a minimal loss you could probably sell one pair.

You are right that I have a bit more time to decide. I am also reconsidering whether I actually want the shearling lining after all. This is all somewhat laughable, as I suggested Leaves consider the Rosewood makeup in the nascent stages of determining his MTO/pre-order Fall lineup. Thus, I will probably get on board.

If I were slight hesitant about it I don't think I would get it. I only try to get those things I'm pretty sure I will like.

Good luck with your decision.

Love the Rosewood boot but can't deal with the shearling lining, so at least I managed to dodge that bullet of temptation. Leaves has one heck of an ammo box, though.

Less is more, you mean that 35 oz Cashmere coat from Liverano? I hear you brother! :)

No but seriously, I understand what you're saying and I can agree, but some of the combos we've seen over the years for Galway have been sublime. That said, I'm also an advocate of subtle footwear. If it came to a vote I'd go for a Galway in crup only.
