RM Williams - My first two pairs

I know this subject has been discussed in quiet many threads before, but I still can't make up my mind which two pairs of RMW boots I should go with.

What I know is that I'm getting one pair in chestnut and one in black. One of the issues I'm struggling with is whether it's a good choice to buy a pair with leather soles or if I should just get two pairs in non-slip. I live in Norway, so the weather might be a bit harsh some times. However, I still have some SWIMS that I could use if it’s to rainy or a lot of snow.

The following shoes I can't make up my mind about:

1: RMW Comfort Craftsman (yearling leather chestnut) (non-slip sole)

2: RMW Kangaroo Comfort Craftsman (kangaroo leather chestnut) (non-slip sole)

3: RMW French Veal Calf Craftsman (veal calf in black) (leather sole)

4: RMW Macquarie (in black) (leather sole) (is the rubber comfort sole an option for the inside or the outside of the shoe?)

I've heard that the kangaroo in chestnut have a much richer look that the yearling, but that the leather might shrink with use.

Someone also told me to never use one pair two days in a row because the leather needs to dry out. Therefore I need to buy two pairs which can be used each day, and not one just for special occasions and one for a every-dag use. Still I'm not so interested in buying two types of the same model with the same type of leather just in different colors. Then I could have bought 2 pairs of the CC...

Hope to get some advises. Thanks.

I have the Macquaire in black and the Craftsman in chestnut - both with leather soles and another pair of custom dress boots, also leather sole.

In your case, I would suggest either the dynamic flex or the composite sole, as the cold can be felt through the leather soles, and I go through a pair of soles every 12-14 months.

They are magnificent boots, both style and comfort-wise, I wear them to work in the office, out to meeting, presentations and have worn them on farms in the morning and a boardroom in the afternoon.

Do get two pair, and give them time to recover after a full days use, as well a prolong the life of the soles.

Good luck.

I think the pointed chelsea style of the macquarie looks stunning in black, and the craftsman with its chisel toe in chestnut is so unique and good looking. I was goign to say just that.

I ended up buying a pair of CC in chestnut french veal calf. I ordered them more than 4 weeks ago, and since they were a MTO, I needed to have some patience.

Anyway, I got an e-mail last night, and they will arrive on my door in a few days. Cant wait :) Will post pics when the arrive.

I just picked up my first pair today! CC in chestnut yearling with a non-slip sole. Looks a lot sleeker soled than many of the chelsea's I've looked at with dainite, but will be essential here where you never know when the rain is coming (only that it will come at some point!).

So far well pleased!

Cheers
