They just changed the dress code.

That really sucks.
If you have to wear a black shirt, make it a polo. Black dress shirts make you look like a waiter.
Black polos will work with khakis.

Maybe the OP works in a restaurant, just guessing.

You know, I'm gonna miss the appearances in the WAYWRN thread as a result of this....

What, I can't post 365 days of black OCBD/khaki pants? :eh:

 In 12 years of knowing the man (including when he wasn't my boss) I have seen him wear a tie twice. I don't think he's gonna start today.

Maybe the OP works in a restaurant, just guessing.

No, but I sometimes eat in one. That's gonna be a problem, isn't it?

What's to stop you from buying a handful of nice loafers, well cut chinos and a some luxurious polo shirts. Pair with a good sports watch and you're on your way.

Save the sports coats for dinner.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.
To answer your questions, yes it is retail. After over a decade with this otherwise enjoyable to work for company, I would be giving up benefits and other financial incentives that I have worked long to attain. I'll adapt to the new code but after a lifetime of dressing for retail management, this feels almost like I have to punch a time clock.
Three required lanyards:
  1. Name badge
  2. "Motivational" point of sale blurb
  3. Panic alarm
Thus the need for a chest pocket for storage of my reading glasses since I refuse to wear a fourth thing around my neck that is not a necktie.
I have become a long sleeve kind of guy as I glide into the Autumn of my years. The store can't be overheated in the Winter since the customers are wearing outerwear and the AC in the Summer keeps me chilly. I just can't imagine that black cotton is color fast and I expect it will fade quickly in comparison to a white or blue dress shirt.
Just to get me by tomorrow, I ran out and bought the only black cotton dress shirt I could find. Who is Sean John and why does his label look like RLPL? Puffy! Brooks Brothers does not even sell a black OCBD shirt, at least from the website.
I have BB and PRL chinos/khakis for now but will be ISO deals for Bill's Khakis since they figure to get a lot more wear. I'll still be able to wear the shoes, I suppose. I have in excess of 10 pairs of Allen Edmonds in various styles/colors with a sprinkling of others like Alfred Sargent.
The thing that just kills me is that I truly enjoyed the past year as I began to learn what to wear. I like suits and sportcoats. I have amassed a closet full of reasonably higher quality clothing altered to fit me so that I would have a variety to wear throughout a period of a month or so. Now pretty much useless as it is unwearable for work.
Thanks again.
Where's the Tylenol?

At least you can still drive your cool mercedes to work, yes?

Sorry to hear the bad sartorial news, Dig.

If you need a chest pocket for glasses, why not have some black shirts made? Since black shirts will inevitably fade, you could order from one of the online shirtmakers instead of spending more at a local place. A well-fitting black shirt might make the routine more bearable.

Hmm. That's terrible.

Some ideas:

(1) Black shirt jackets: guayaberas, long-sleeve safari shirts, wool shirt jackets. These can have four patch pockets. Try them in linen, cotton drill, or cashmere, if you can find it. Better to get them custom-made, but if it has to be RTW, try Penner's or similar for black Cuban (i.e., four-pocket) linen guayaberas. Take in the waist and chest if need be. These will cover your waist and hence make you look trimmer than those who tuck in their shirts and draw attention to their midriff.

(2) Wool gabardine trousers in all shades of tan. Also try stone, cream, beige, and pearl gray. Most people can't tell the difference between those and light tan.

(3) Linen trousers in the same colors.

(4) Cotton drill trousers. Same.

(5) Keep on rockin' the shoe purchases.

If feasible, get them a bit longer than this guayabera, so that it more or less covers your seat:

You can always step up your shoe game as a reaction to the new policy... G&G might be a good start.

This suggestion doesn't make any sense. There would be no balance in wearing a black shirt, khakis, and sleek-lasted, expensive English shoes. If anything he should step his shoe game down to make his appearance as cohesive as possible.

Sounds like CK corporate. Dress code was black and white. Sheesh.

Was the bulimia mandatory or just voluntary?
