Well I just received a pair of Uetam last loafers (being a reliable US9D). I sized down by half  to 8.5UK and the fit is glove-like...snug and comfortable right from the box. I definitely feel an 8UK would be uncomfortable...in fact I don't think I could get my foot in it.

It's a beautifully proportioned last...although it deserves a better name.

This info helps a lot because I was looking at the loafers and I really liked em but not sure of the last. It's not too tight? Because I'm sure it'll stretch and break in comfortably

I don't find it at all tight...it's holds the foot firmly with no slippage at the heel... just right....I have read reports comparing it to Simpson Last (which I havent worn) but it looks roomier to me.

AE 4-234 last: 10D US
Meermin Olfe last: 9E UK
Meermin Hiro last: 9E UK

I have a high instep/arch and Leaves said that the Simpson probably wouldn't fit very well.  Does anyone have an idea what last/size would be best?

Thanks!

Robert, Forest, Inca suit a high instead. Take same size as Olfe

Great advice indeed, thanks for putting it like that. I'm the narrower side of medium in a US13 and was on the fence about going 11.5 or 12 in a Carmina, and the 12D Barrie fits me pretty well. I suppose I'm still a bit on the fence about 11.5 or 12 in the Simpson, although I tend to prefer a little snug to a little loose. At this point I would almost just pay the return shipping to know for sure, ha.

If you fit a 12 in Barrie than go atleast a 12 in Simpson. 2 completely different lasts and shapes. Barrie last is the 56 year old Kirstie alley compared to Simpson Kirstie Alley on cheers

Just wanted to post a Carmina sizing comparison.

I have some Double Monk Straps in the Inca last (10.5UK) and just received some Tassel Loafers in the Uetam last (11UK).

Both are about the same length wise. The Inca had some room on the sides. I think I can actually size down half a size on the Inca now that I'm carefully comparing it. The Uetam was well-fitting on the sides with maybe 1/8" to 1/5" wiggle room but had a good 1.25" of space for the toe. I'm willing to live with a little tightness on the sides, so I'm sending the Uetam loafers back tomorrow to trade for a snuff suede version in 10.5 and another shoe on Simpson in 10.5. I've heard the Simpson is as narrow as the Uetam, just basically different in the toe (please someone prove me wrong if the Simpson is narrower, before the paypal invoice hits, if needed).

My toe on the Uetam stops where the stitching is on the decorative stitching. FYI. About the same on the Inca.

Bottom point: 10.5 UK Inca = 11 UK Uetam.

Pictures: (Carmina, Polo Cashmere, Epaulet Blackwatch [needs hemmed more])

I have a pair of Salinger Double Monks in the Inca last size 11UK that I have to wear thick socks with to make fit.
Debating ordering another pair, as I love the quality, design, and price point, but I'm stuck on size. Would a 10.5 be feasible or should I just look into different lasts?
For detail, my current pair are about a 1/4-1/2 too long at the heel, and without thick socks I have to use the last hole to tighten them, which is a real bugger.
Thanks.

This ones pretty simple. If you have room on all four sides of your foot, it's too big ;)
Inca is the largest size so the same size in other lasts may be better. Like Simpson and Uetam. I'm working on getting right sizes for myself but this should point you in the right direction.

If you could compare the Inca Last to an Alden Last (fit-wise), which would it be?

Hi Guys,

This is going to sound strange, but what size in Forest would you recommend if I wear a UK8.5 in Reebok classics, my foot is very narrow.

I was thinking 8.5 in an E fit forest would be OK. I'm looking at either the 732 oxford or 956 4tier derby, both an E width.

Also do you know what returns policy is from Carmina direct, I live in the EU BTW.

I would offer a sizing example of similar footwear but all I have is two new pairs of bespoke from Januszkiewicz in Warsaw, which don't compare to any RTW shoes.

Thanks in advance for any help

Alex

Ok, I honestly don't expect an answer but I thought I'd toss this out anyway. Have any of you bought Carmina for your wives/girlfriends? I was poking around on the Carmina and Epaulet sites and my wife mentioned that she liked their boots. Epaulet lists UK5.5 = US8.5 in womens which seems really small compared to other brands. (My wife is US8.5 but UK6.5 in Meermin.) Anyone have any experience with this? Spoo? Mother's Day is coming up so I was considering a purchase if I had any idea what size to buy. I'll give Epaulet a call tomorrow but I assume they'll say what their website says.

Crosspost from the Skoak thread, sizing details about Inca/Simpson/Uetam.

I did the best I could to depict the slippage I'm talking about. The Inca is just like the Rain so I'm treating it that way. These are all 10.5UK:

Comparison (Simpson - Uetam - Inca)

Uetam length vs Inca length (Same, if not more for Inca)

Uetam width vs Inca width. Note the height comparison as well. Which is why I'd size down if the Rain/Inca has any room in the sides for you. The toe should always have room.

Uetam loafer slippage. My foot slides forward due to the long opening.

Inca slippage - Less, but still there.

Simpson slippage - best fitting shoe ever. Doesn't rub, doesn't slip.
