TIA

I wear UK8 on the Rain, and US8.5D in Alden LHS, Van last.

I recall other members complained about heel slippage on the Alden LHS and sized down half a size.

Having a really hard time with fit for Allen Edmonds, and hoping Carmina will give me my next best bang for the budget option.

Here are the sizes I've tried:

Brannock measurement:   9D

Allen Edmonds (5 last):

9D = slightly too long and too narrow for sure.

8.5E = slightly too snug in the toebox.

8.5EEE = too wide, gets creasing/bulging when walking in toe box.

(Haven't been able to try on an 8.5 EE size though because it's rare).  Have similar issues with their other lasts.

The best fitting shoe I ever had was a cheap $100 florsheim in 9D.  Fit like a glove.

Looking for a perforated cap-toe (dark brown) and a wingtip (medium brown).

Looks like the Rain or Inca lasts would be for the cap-toe.  Forest last for the wingtip.  (Didn't see an affordable blucher wingtip - only cordovan)

I wear a 8.5 Barrie, 8 trubalance. Any chance a 7.5 forest would work for me?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I did the best I could to depict the slippage I'm talking about. The Inca is just like the Rain so I'm treating it that way. These are all 10.5UK:

Comparison (Simpson - Uetam - Inca)

Uetam length vs Inca length (Same, if not more for Inca)

Uetam width vs Inca width. Note the height comparison as well. Which is why I'd size down if the Rain/Inca has any room in the sides for you. The toe should always have room.

Uetam loafer slippage. My foot slides forward due to the long opening.

Inca slippage - Less, but still there.

Simpson slippage - best fitting shoe ever. Doesn't rub, doesn't slip.

Would you advice to size down a half size if I fit the Simpsons like you do? I have bit of room at the toes, but comfortably snug width wise

Anyone have experience with sizing for a narrow foot?  My best fitting shoes are my AE Park Aves in a 10.5B, so the 5 last.

Can anyone comment on the fitting of the Detroit ? I am thinking of a calf derby and wanting a width close to a Barrie E, should I go with EE or EEE on the detroit??

Uetam and Rain is the same size?

I have 9UK Uetam, 10D USA Alden Aberdeen, 8,5UK in Forest.

8,5UK or 9UK in rain?

I just received my first Oxford on the Simpson last. These fit perfectly at the heel, width and length. Rain last in the same size is too roomy and wide.

I wonder if I size .5 down on the rain would they fit fine then? Those that have a perfect fit with Simpson and uetem last, how does the rain last fit? Should I still take a chance .5 size down or would they crush my toes or bad fit?

I have to return my rain last size 8 for a half size down and wonder if it's worthed to try the rain last in size uk7.5.

Oxford Simpson 7 fits me perfectly snug, no v space at the laces. Rain 7 in Chelseas with dress socks is in no way snug or need to be broken in. I don't mind as I wear these chelseas in fall/winter with thicker socks. I guess for a better fit (~similar) I definitely have to size down 0.5 for oxfords.

Gentlemen,

I've reading thoroughly this thread and I still can't make any sense of Carmina's sizing. Might be that it's Friday wink.gif

Anyway, my only Carmina's are a Rain last in UK 7.
BUT, all the other shoes I have are a UK 6.5 (C&J, Alden, Yanko, Meermin, Loake, Herring, etc.). And all of them fit perfectly.
I can't really tell any difference in how they feel, including Carmina's.

Question is, if I get a Carmina in Forest last, should I go UK 7 as in the Rain I own, or should I go 0.5 down to match ALL my other shoes?
