The Official Carmina Sizing Thread - Page 78

@MTLinStyle

@Shawl Lapel

@wigglr

Thanks guys for sharing your experience. It may be worth a punt to pull the trigger on UK9.5 Simpson for me. With oxfords, it should be easier to address slight heel slippage with thicker socks or heel pads.

Entering the World of Carmina so of course I have sizing questions. I am looking at shoes on Forest, Rain, and Simpson and have read though this entire thread but i am very confused. My sizes are the following:

Brannock half way between 11.5c/d and 11c/d
AE 65 Last: 10.5D is very snug but they break in nicely, 10.5E is just a hair too roomy on the vamp
AE 511 Last: 11.5D
AE 97 Last : Grayson loafers are tight at 10.5D but stretch nicely; probably should be an 11D in MacNeils
Alden Barrie: 10.5D is perfect
Alden Grant Last: 11D

After all my reading my best guess would be a 9.5uk or 10 UK in the Rain and Forest?

Are you a 10.5 in AE 65 even though your brannock is 11 because your foot is narrow?

I am closer to a D than a C but yes my feet run a little narrow. Also I am closer to an 11.5 than an 11 on the Brannock; I would be like an 11.3 if they made them smile.gif An AE 65 in 11D fits well in width but it is just a bit too long; 10.5D is very snug and probably just a little too tight but they break in very well. On the other hand the AE 511 in 11.5D fits me perfectly as do Alden Barrie's in 10.5D.

I think Forest is roomier than Rain but you should research that. Rain in normal width is better for D or E footed people with wider heels and moderately high insteps. If your foot is pretty narrow you'd probably do better with Simpson and I'd guess you at a 10.5UK. Maybe 10UK in Rain but I think you'd find the shoe feeling big volume-wise. I'd email Skoak for sizing advice in addition to what feedback you get from this thread.

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it. I am pulling the trigger on a pair on the Forest last from Carmina's US site. I did a similar thing with my first pair of Alden as well as my first pair of Allen Edmonds. Worst case scenario I have to cover shipping and related costs back to Carmina, which stinks but seems like a necessary step to start learning my fit. Is Skoak better to deal with than Carmina direct?

They have different offerings so it depends on what model you're looking at. The guys at Skoak speak perfect English though so returns would be 100% easier with them.

long-time lurker...

read through most of this thread, but still unsure of Carmina sizing.

in Alden i'm:

Barrie 7D

Grant 7.5D

looking at Carmina Cordovan NST blucher in Forest last - what's the consensus on sizing for this relative to Alden?

thx!

Greetings, all. I've read through most of this thread, but I'm still having some trouble. I have rather long narrow feet, which often makes it pretty difficult to get a good fit, so I just wanted to see if anyone here had a similar sizing issue. I'm a 9.5 C in Allen Edmonds 5 last. Thanks!

I agree - Forest is definitely roomier than Rain and has a wider heel as well.

It looks like some of the stock Forest models come in EE width by default. Do the EE width Forests fit like the Inca (whch is supposed to be EE)? Narrower/Wider?
