I would go with a 10UK on the inca.

Okay here goes:

I made the mistake of browsing the Carmina site and found these.  I am an 8.5 D in virtually everything.  These are on the Rain last.  So the question is, for a Rain last, should I stay true to size, meaning UK 7.5 or go down to a 7?

7.5 UK in the Rain last if you are US 8.5D.

Go 7.5. I'm a 10.5D and and I have these in a 9.5 and they have a wider heel than I'd like but I think 9 would be too small in the instep and across the toes. I might end up trying a tongue pad.

But wider through the middle of the foot, yes? I'm a 9.5 UK in most Carminas, but I have a double monk on the Inca, and had to go with a 9UK in that shoe. Perhaps that's because of the double monk shape.

I have size 7.5 UK in Detroit last, is it the same in Forest last?

So I bought these beautiful things from the aforementioned forum member (great guy by the way).  I love them.  The fit is "snug" and by the end of the day "irritable".  I've spent way too much time researching so I figured I would just ask the collective genius here.  How long can it take to realize a full break in?  I've only worn them a couple times and realize that's not nearly enough. Anyone have any good stories to share about initial break in of any magical Unicorn leather (Shell Cordovan) shoes that should fit, but doesn't at first and eventually evolves into a good fit?

I sized up a half size from the Rain for the Uetam so I'd recommend a 9UK for you based on my experience.

Where are they irritable?

Left foot seems okay-ish.  Right foot around the ball with light rubbing on my big toe knuckle with mild squishing of my pinky toe.  They are both slightly tight across the bottom of the vamp at at the end of the first (and only) full day wearing.  The toe box feels better when I tighten the laces to full closure because it pushes my heel back to where it should be.  But it's a bit too tight to sustain. And based upon the rule of "laces should show 1/4 inch" that's almost exactly where it feels comfortable across the vamp.

Hello,

I wear 6.5d in  Alden 990 and a little bit snug in fifth toe

These wingtips were my first pair of shell shoes and they are stiff. I'd give them a few more wears (sitting around the house too) to give them time to shape to your feet. The width won't really increase, though trees might help, but the instep area should relax.
