I went with my whole family ( for the most part) to watch "John Carter" yesterday. I really liked it. It was fun. Think Indiana Jones meets Star Wars meets Avatar. I hope it does well so tat there is a sequel.
I want to read the books now.

I am looking forward to seeing it. Not yet convinced it will be any good, but eventually I will watch it. I did enjoy the books. they were far better than what passes for pulp fiction these days IMHO

The 10-minute preview on page one seemed intriguing and fun enough to merit a Saturday afternoon.

The articles posted talking about various other sci-fi powerhouses ripping off ideas is very obvious from the second trailer. Going into that arena I thought I was watching Attack of the Clones again.

But I think it looks fun. It may not be great, but it looks like a good time. I'm not going to see an oscar-level movie, just to watch things blow up on another planet.

i thought it was another denzel washington movie the first time i heard someone mention the name. i'll probably go see it and agree that it is a marketing disaster (heavily affected by the name). i usually get pumped up for sci-fi epics but the previews left me feeling nothing.
