I had an interview just over three weeks ago for a position at a hedge fund. They liked me a lot and brought me back for another round the next day (they got me done in two days because I had to travel for it). I sent a thank you note the next day to the most senior guy, who would ultimately make the decision, and he told me he was impressed but would have to meet other people first before making a decision -- apparently I was the first person they'd met and the job posting only actually went out that day (I was introduced through networking). He claimed they were on a relatively near-term timeline, whatever that means.
Because of the good feedback I expected to hear back quickly. I waited a couple weeks before following up by email last Monday, just letting them know that I'd be returning to the city and would be happy to meet with them if it made sense. He said he was travelling that week but would reach out when he got back. It's been a few days into this week and still nothing, marking 3+ weeks since the interview.
This is making me very anxious since I'm pretty eager to leave my job. I know there's nothing I can *do* except wait but does anyone have any suggestions as to whether I should reach out again and how? I was thinking about following up Monday of next week, which would be four weeks from my interview and two weeks since I last reached out. Any thoughts?
(Yeah, I'd probably roll my eyes at this post if I were you but I'm sure everyone knows how nerve-wracking this wait can be.)
