how deep are they? I have decent full grain on my sofa and my dog puts scratches in it all the time - I just hit it with a rag moistened with neatsfoot oil and a bit of black shoe polish, makes the scratches virtually disappear. Do not know how it'd react with brown though, depends entirely on the shade and finish type of the leather in question.
If it is 'genuine leather' (ie leather with a painted-on finish) you could try the shoe polish and a bit of oil mixed so that it works its way in without being too heavy; if it's aniline dyed or tanned, I'd actually try hitting it up with a crayon in the right shade, maybe using a cloth to work it into the raw scratched parts.
For light scratches (maybe "scuffs" would be a better description), you can buy a bar of Ivory soap and gently rub it into the blemishes. Use a small bit of water. Then get a good cleaner / conditioner and try to buff the scratch out.
