anybody familiar with this scent?

I tried some today, and, in its pure form it is shockingly bad smelling. not like cheese or durian - but sort of sour, sort of off. after an hor or so on the skin, it mellows a lot. I am debating whether to odopt it.

The Perfume house of Montale makes several fragnances containing "aoud", as they refer to it. The fragnances are fairly assertive, but certainly interesting to a fragnance connoisseur. From the several auod containing fragnaces I tried, "Aoud Lime" offers a brisk citrus note as a counter weight to smoky auod."Aoud Damascus" offers a metallic note in a similar role. "Aoud Cuir d'Arabie" smells too much like an arm pit to me, even though I generally like leathery fragnances.

I own and like Montale Royal Auod. I wear it occasionaly in the evening. There may be other companies making fragnances containing auod. I don't think I would dare to wear pure auod extract in US or Europe.

Yves St. Laurent M7 contains agarwood (aoud). Use the search function on www.basenotes.net to find reviews of this and the fragrances listed above.
