Concept, brother. Concept. I'm sure you can meld the best of both worlds. Just don't sacrifice weight for looks.

So far, no luck. The best looking case I have found in my price range is faux leather. I might go ahead and get it since most of the others I have found that I like the looks and materials used are way too pricey.

The hell with it. I have been studying cases for too damn long. I ordered the Incipio Feather case today to go along with my smart cover. That will give me some protection with minimal bulk.

I will order this one for business use-

I hate that more places do not carry a variety of cases so you can check them out before you buy. I have read good things about the Incipio and the Hex one looks great and will allow me to carry business cards, documents and stylus all in one. $200 in cases alone but what the hell.

Yup. And the synthetic materials are lighter weight as well. Seriously, if you can find one locally, check out the Switcheasy Canvas. Its widely regarded as a great case, but its heavy as shit. Turned my iPad into a 2lb brick. STILL almost considered keeping it. Almost.

While I don't need all the pockets that's not a bad looking case in tan.

This is the one I have been looking at: http://www.case-mate.com/The-new-iPad-Cases-iPad-3/Case-Mate-iPad-2-The-new-iPad-Venture-Case.asp

It's nothing special, but at least looks somewhat interesting. Price is not bad either.

Willie5566 do you actually use a stylus with your iPad? I know they make them, but the UI is designed from the ground up for finger input. What's the advantage of using a stylus too?

I forgot to mention that apparently a lot of the cases out now are having problems with the magnetic sleep function. Apple moved around the sensors slightly and somehow this didn't get communicated properly to case makers. They put the magnets in the same areas they did for the iPad2.

Sorry for the triple post.

Not as often as I would like. Eventually I would love to use nothing but my iPad but the writing experience is not very good right now. It is getting better though. Some apps have really improved their wrist protection. The tips leave a bit to be desired but I still feel it is the best way to go.

Have you ever tried writing with your finger? Personally I think it sucks. It is awkward and messy. We were trained to write with objects and that what feels best to me.

I believe Steve was very anti-stylus but I really feel he was wrong about this. I think the iPad is a great note taking and storing device and has the potential to eliminate a lot of paper use.

But that's the point. Other then a few random apps that were designed for writing and drawing, it's not supported on an OS level. I agree that it would be nice for quick note taking, but seems like the use if very limited and not worth the hassle of mixing it into your workflow.

I'd rather have a tablet with a crappy attached keyboard that runs some sort of Microsoft operating system so I can have fun spending hours a week dicking around with settings to get it work properly.

Recs?

EDIT: I actually think the "Metro Style" interface in Windows 8 for tablets is looking killer. Apple could learn a few things from what they are doing. Too bad Microsoft decided to shoehorn Metro and a classic Windows UI into a single OS. It's not going to work well at all. If they had decided to release them as separate operating systems, I would be championing them.

MetroUI looks like a dog to me, but I'm very excited about getting Windows 8 on my lappy...that is....if I can turn off Metro and go back to the old Start Menu.

Think I found a case that I like: http://www.amazon.com/Targus-Slim-Case-Wi-Fi-Model/dp/B007C0Y8PY/ref=br_lf_m_1000776351_1_21_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&pf_rd_p=1350785802&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000776351&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1G3Q3BPF8MTA3FWACY6X

I mentioned before that some cases are having issues with the magnets not working. It's a problem facing most brands of case makers and apparently some people have had issues with this model, but Targus has stated they will replace them for free if you get one like that. They will let you keep the defective one till the replacement arrives. That's good enough for me.
