I think I'll keep it but my macbook air is still definitely more easy to use effectively and comfortably.

Are you holding it with one or two hands? I agree for one handed use these devices are still a little heavy. Most people lean them up against their legs or use a cover with a stand for extended use.

I would love to see them continue to cut more weight each year, but I do wonder if we are going to reach a point were they can't shave much more off while keeping the battery levels up and the screen solid glass.

Sounds like they'd have to alter the form factor to do that peepwall[1].gif

I use both hands but when you're lying on your back, using the iPad makes for a cumbersome ritual of constantly adjusting and moving your hands.

I mainly bought this for all th business travel I do and I haven't had to travel for two weeks so I haven't used it in lieu of my laptop yet. Im resuming travel starting next week, so If I find myself increasingly frustrated and yearning for my MBA I'm going to sell this thing.

When did I say they won't alter the form factor in the future? Oh wait, never.

What does this fact have to do with the arguments earlier? Oh yeah, nothing.

Still inlove.gif ya anyways Bo!

I would never give up my 11" MBA for an iPad. I guess it really depends on how you have (or plan on) using said devices.

^I just did. The 11" MBA was fine when I was travelling, and was a nice entertainment hub when I hooked it up via HDMI to large screen TVs but to actually do work (wordprocessing, powerpoints) for extended lengths of time, was a no-no. When I have my desktop imac to use, the 11 doesn't really get used - stuff like reading books/ comics/ playing the odd game is much better on a tablet. I am waiting for the ASUS Transformer infinity but got an ipad 3 yesterday to play with. Screen is nice, and it seems much better than the original ipad (I skipped #2). Probably will sell this when the ASUS is available as some stuff particularly customisation is so much easier on android.

I have a Mac Mini, MBA, and I just sold my first gen iPad to Amazon. The iPad shines when I'm watching movies on the road or browsing the web in a hotel, in bed, and on the couch during a baseball game. I use my MBA as my everything device. The Mini gets used for long periods of writing, Excel and Word, and long periods of online browsing/research.

I plan on getting the new iPad down the road but I would never relinquish the MBA. I certainly can see a scenario where someone has a desktop and iPad (no laptop).

Yeah, I haven't used my laptop in months, since Christmas, IIRC. My desktop and iPad get all my computing time now.

My company issues me a laptop as my work computer, but I pretty much plan on leaving it in the office and traveling with my iPad. I may take my laptop home on weekends if I want to do serious computing work or something, but that shouldn't happen much. Most of those weekends I'll be in the office anyway.

I am hoping I can use the iPad for class and buy a Mac Mini with dual ACD's... If not I will order a 11" MBA with ACD. So far I really like the iPad, just need to find more use beyond Bloomberg App and Safari.

it's funny how the world has changed. i used to think i was really the technological marvel when i headed out on the road with a cell phone, a 12-pound laptop and a palm pilot. most times, now i just carry my iphone. i'm going away for a week on assignment next week and i'll add the ipad, which will do all the word-processing i need.

Neat thing. When typing take one finger on each hand on the keyboard and swipe away. The keyboard separates so you can type while holding the iPad with two hands. Could be old news but I didn't realize this til now.
