As much as I'd love to leave their over-charging, locking down, cheapskate asses, they do make a damn fine handset.

If the next gen iPhone is badass and you want it, does your carrier charge you an early upgrade fee? I am eligible to upgrade through AT&T however my iPhone 4 works just fine, the 4S isn't a huge improvement IMO, and if I were to upgrade now then I'd have to pay a $250 upgrade early charge come this fall if the next iPhone, as I expect, is awesome.

Oh well.

Thinking about getting a keyboard case combo. Any recommendations? I've read same reviews saying that some third party ipad2 cases don't work properly with the sleep sensor. Is this true?
Some do, some don't. From what I have read it is a real issue. Sometimes a case will work for one person but then the same case will not work for another. I am sure ths will be worked out in the coming weeks but is still a work in progress presently.

Tim Cook has just delivered the first news regarding performance of Apple's new iPad for 2012: he says the product had a "record weekend" and the entire team is "thrilled" with it.

ATT also backs this up: http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/19/2884436/att-ipad-sales-activation-record

I'm having trouble with my new iPad being restored with all my stuff from iCloud. I visited Apple once already and thought everything was fine, but it looks like I'm in for another visit. I don't have time for this hassle. ffffuuuu.gif

Seems like many fanboys people did indeed run out to buy them on launch day.

Here's what we're hearing: within the first 12 hours of the iPad's launch — between 8AM and 8PM local time — the store sold over 13,000 new iPads, an average of about 18 per minute. Daily store revenue, which typically falls between $700,000 to $1 million this quarter, was up to $11.5 million on launch day. On the supply side, the Fifth Avenue store had more iPads out of any store in the US — not surprising at all given its landmark status, but also partly in reaction to last year's iPad 2 launch, where they were selling out faster than employees could open boxes. While we don't have a model-by-model breakdown, we do know the 4G models are selling at a better-than-expected rate, while Wi-Fi models have been more readily available.

Incredible sales numbers for something that's just an "incremental" update. wink.gif

No sooner than we heard Apple's Fifth Avenue flagship store do crazy numbers — 13,000 in 12 hours, about 18 per minute — the company went official with some "record breaking" launch day sales statistics. Since March 16th (just last Friday) Apple has sold over 3 million new iPads across the globe. As Phonescoop's Eric Zeman aptly points out, that's more than RIM has sold PlayBooks and Motorola has sold Xooms in a year... combined. For some perspective, the original iPad took 80 days to sell 3 million. Although we can't find an iPad 2 launch weekend sales figure from Apple (oddly enough), Reuters that following weekend reported and estimated 1 million over its first three days. According to our admittedly rough math skills, that means the new iPad did three times as well.

So, I'm hanging out at the Apple Store this morning. Been here for or half hour or so, and will probably stay for another half hour when my "restore" issues are hopefully resolved. I won't leave until everything is running perfectly. Folks here have been rather hospitable, and helpful. Place is busy, not to mention an interesting collection of people.

You just bought it, so if they can't fix it quickly they will replace. My first iPhone had issues right off the bat and Apple took care of me. The only thing that might slow the process down is if they are running too low on stock to swap it.

Speaking of which, did they have any new iPads in store ready to be sold? Curious what the stock levels are like.

Been some reports on them running a little warmer then the iPad 2. One of my best friends noticed it on his new one. He upgraded directly from the 2 and compared them directly. Didn't think it's that big of a deal.

The folks here have been great. The issue is being resolved, so I don't think it'll come to that. It's hot in here though, I'm starting to perspire.

Yes, they still have stock here.
