that's my biggest beef with the Samsung phones. My buddy has one, and while I'm sure it's great and can achieve things far greater than my iPhone, I wouldn't use it because it is a monster. That bugle would create awkward conversation at bars....that's if it would even fit into my damn jeans lol. They are good phones though, just not in the sense that I would be using a phone (i.e having it on me at all times).

p.s am I the only one who thinks the Samsung hardware feels a little flimsy? I feel like one drop and it would be obliterated, whereas my iPhone is more of a tank in that regard despite being smaller.

Just got an email that my iPad just shipped from Hong Kong. Scheduled for delivery by the 16th.

I remembered last night that I am still grandfathered in on the "unlimited" iPhone plan. That mean's I can't sign up for tethering without loosing this. Because of this I am leaning towards the LTE version even if I don't use that feature much.

Some people always manage to get shipments early. Never know, but you might have a surprise coming on the 15th.

I hope so. Was supposed to leave town on the morning of the 16th and not be back until the following Tuesday night. Would love to have the iPad for my trip.

Yeah, I would hate to have to leave town knowing that my new toy was supposed to deliver later that day. Good luck on that. I read stories of it happening every year, so it's not unheard of.

Arnie - no student discounts on iPad's or iPhones. Gift cards can be used on anything.

The closest do a discount they may do is run a back to school special promotion when bought with a laptop.

The iPhone 4/4S is nothing like a tank unless you have a good case on it. While it is gorilla glass and rather durable to scratches, it is very easy to crack the glass of the front and back with a simple drop. I use a case with mine.

Many of the newer Samsung phones use gorilla glass too. The part of them that feels flimsy is the backing. However I've seen a few videos online that show that backing to be rather durable too.

I have no case and drop my phone a lot. has a couple of nicks on the screen, which I am guessing is from my earrings, but nothing major. Also, the only time I broke my iPhone was when I was drunk and tossing it in the air. It fell down, and the screen kinda bubbled up on the right side, but was perfectly fine. I tried to press the bubble down and it cracked the screen

Consider yourself very lucky. I know half a dozen friends who have cracked their iPhone 4/4S screens from simple drops. It's also well documented online. Furthermore the 4/4S is an incredibly slippery device (due to the glass on both sides) so I actually prefer the grip that a simple silicone case provides.

I decided I wanted the 4G 64GB on VZW instead... Called them up to modify my order and comes to find out it's being prepared to ship. Oh well, I don't think Apple has a restocking fee. I will try and exchange it mid week while everyone is at work. Unopen of course...
