Samuelsohn MTM - Page 5

Does anyone have any details about the pants available. I like a single pleat with a floating besom pocket. Meaning the front pockets are completely off the seam. Coppley has these, as do others. I'm a fan because there is much less stress on the pants. Does Samuelsohn offer such a pant?

Thanks.

The current "soft shoulder" models from Samuelsohn are Gable, Globe, and Greenwich. Pretty similar shoulder across the three, Greenwich might have a bit more shoulder to it (even though it's the classic Samuelsohn model for a natural shoulder). There is a bit of soft padding for all three, pretty similar to RL Blue Label. Construction wise, all have pretty light canvases, with Greenwich maybe a bit heavier.

At the last MTM, I asked whether they could make in the discontinued Talbott, and I was told that I would like the Gable. I took this as a polite "no." I ended up with the Gable and I like it a lot, especially for a suit (where a slight bit of shoulder is not a bad thing). Still miss the completely unpadded shoulder of the Talbott.

Anyone got an idea about when the next Samuelsohn trunk show is at Harry Rosens?

Likely September/October.

I asked a SA two weeks ago. He said its every Sept and March.

Anyone know if and where they do a trunk show in Atlanta?

If you recall, they had a promo last year where m2m started at $900. It was for a set of discontinued fabrics. I hope they do that again this year.

For reference purposes, 'A' fabrics start at 1k. $900 for a Samuelsohn m2m is a veritable steal.

Do you have any indication on price for extras, such as: side tab adjusters on trousers, peaked lapels, surgeon cuffs and a ticket pocket? Trying to get an estimate of how much I should set aside.

I'd say ask the SAs now to get an idea on extras.

Double Post from the Ask A Question thread:

I'm thinking of adding to my suit collection. Right now I have 3 Dolce and Gabbana Martini suits (charcoal, navy, grey) and an E. Zegna (black). At 6'1" and 160lb the D&G suits fit me the best, I get complimented on them all the time, and as a result I wear them all the time. The 38R jacket fits perfect OTR and the shape is spot on and generally I get these on sale at Harry Rosen for around $1200.

My questions is: Can I get a Samuelsohn suit (maybe the trunk show MTM?) to fit the same as the D&G suits or should I stick with what works? Also what other colours should I be looking at next?

The Andover Shop in Cambridge offers Samuelsohn MTM, beginning at 1K. I know some members have not felt welcome there, but Charlie, the owner, has always treated me extremely well, and he's an absolute wealth of knowledge, having opened the Shop in 1949. Zach of Newton Street Vintage, who's very friendly, now works there. They'll also be more familiar with the Ivy League or natural shoulder cut than some other stores. I've only bought RTW from them, but the MTM I've seen looks excellent and is fully canvassed, unlike RL Blue Label, which is very good but sells at a higher price for half-canvas without customization.

I was there four years ago in June. At least in the Cambridge shop they had almost nothing to show me that wasn't summer weight.
Nevertheless, I was treated extremely well, even though I was wearing linen jeans.

I was just quoted $1300-1700 for Samuelsohn MTM suit at Rego. It seems people are finding them around 1k during the trunk sales, should I just wait for Harry Rosen's fall trunk sale instead?
