But what is the Italian term for "neat?"

Of course in English "four in hand" can refer to either a knot or to the tie itself.

I don't know if there's a similar ambiguity in Italian.

Did these include things that aren't shown on his website?

Cheers,

Ac

I can't say for sure, but I think so. I asked about a brown raw silk, and he sent me a pic of a brown cotton/silk. Beautiful fabric but not slubby enough (and this is where there might be a language barrier).

@davesmith Shaya, I suspect that's because you've talked to him in person, looked at fabrics together, and he knows what you're after.

@xizenta The issue for me is to convey to him what knot I tie so that he can adjust for certain thicker wool fabrics. I'll try "four in hand."

Top is what I wanted, but alas, is sold out.

Slubby but too light. But I'd love a jacket made of this material for summer!

The bottom is the fabric that he suggested when I asked about a darker brown.

This next one is also what he suggested in place of the top.

I just want a bit more texture as in the beige.

Incidentally, here are three brown wools. I have to clarify which are from the website. They are all herringbone, I think, though faintly so, and seem to decrease in "red" as you go down.

Wow, Patrizio is a really nice guy.

I've settled on two initial ties for the first run

http://www.patriziocappelli.it/cata...cts_id=1778&osCsid=svh70uuigbnjh2hhv6odkobs06

Dark brown, more subtle herringbone, 100 cashmere. Patrizio suggests this for a more elegant knot, a lighter fabric. Fills a gap in my wool tie collection, a need for a dark brown.

Then this linen/silk

which will replace a Borrelli I'm selling which is too wide for my frame/taste. All ties will be 8.5cm wide. I'm not sure hand rolling is necessary though I do love it in ties. Confirming details but will post when they come.

Since we are building up a glossary, Patrizio tells me that "sfoderato" is Italian for untipped (when he says "unlined"). Assuming we've understood each other.
