This

Coupled with EGC being distinctly better imho

I can't imagine it is rational to buy Drake's over Cappelli in Europe. I use both but only buy Drake's (a) when they are on significant discount and (b) when they are fabrics that are likely unique to them. Even then, the customization with a bespoke tie is fantastic. Mostly, the house cut will be fine, but I've asked for some minor adjustments (Patrizio will often make these himself too, e.g. on lining, depending on the fabric).

Plus: it was a coup that I caught Patrizio while he was in England shopping for fabrics and was at the mill where the silks above came from. I'm grateful he took our input.

#teamCappelli

OK: Another photo bomb

Madders (top 2 batches are my favorites)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I second the comments from others. I like everything I have from Drake's, but I prefer Patrizio's work. Plus, you get to do business with Patrizio, who is a complete gentleman and a pleasure to interact with.

Oh, also, so much want...

Better shots from Patrizio of my top 3

Alas, I'm passing on them but really beautiful.

I received some more too, all of which he tells me will be on the site in 7-10 days

I like specially the last one

I have both ( Drakes and Cappelli's) and both are stellar tie makers.

I must admit i find it  in bad form the subtle and not-so-subtle digs at Drake's. In a thread that is not about Drake's.

By all means panegyrise Patrizio and his wares but lately nearly every remark throws shade at Drake's.

The 'red' in the fourth list (and the similar brown) above tugs at my heart and purse strings. Shame i am not currently in the market.

Hi,

As I have targeted some grenadines, could you please inform me which is the code number (as it appears in EGC site) of the brown grenadine grossa that you just bought?

BTW, it looks great! Enjoy it - and the rest - in good health!

Thank you in advance.

I don't think anyone in the last set of posts was being negative about Drake's quality, but noting a substantial cost difference. That's a fact, no? I doubt Cleav was even implying Drake's makes poor ties.

I have both (and indeed, my Drake's collection is larger than my Cappelli). For me, cost is a factor and I would be hard pressed to justify paying twice the cost for Drake's if I were in Europe. But, of course, aesthetics might sometimes be worth it (I'm still looking for a navy wool glen plaid which Drake's had but Patrizio did not).

@cezinho very nice, my friend.

I thought this request might be forthcoming, but I didn't have the information at my fingertips when I posted last night.

The ties are (from left to right) Silk Twill ZZZC5, Grenadine Garza Solid A4, and Madder C8. All are unlined, three fold, and 9cm wide (length is slightly shorter on the grenadine than on the other two).

Hi,

Thank you for replying. I initially thought that your tie was the one with Code Number B8; this is why I insist in posting this kind of info!

Best

Exactly. Also keep in mind that we're all 'igents', meaning we never pay full retail for anything biggrin.gif

B8 is actually more of what I would call a wine color. Below is a picture of my Grenadine Garza B8 from Patrizio. I think the color is a little better represented than the swatch online.

I have an extensive collection of both Drakes and EGC. I post here and I post on the Drakes thread. I adore both and will regularly recommend both to those looking to up their tie game. Currently I feel that an EGC tie for me is top of the pile and better than most around on a number of different levels. To suggest that anyone is being disparaging about a particular brand is quite a leap and one I won't entertain. Carry on.

In other news I have three on order with Patrizio, happy days biggrin.gif
