Inaugural Post: Consensus regarding Cucinelli fur collar coat

Yes, I have checked past threads.  I realize, like many sartorial preferences, there will be differing opinions.  With that said, I recently stumbled upon this Brunello Cucinelli coat on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item3f13453781&item=270906242945&nma=true&pt=US_CSA_MC_Outerwear&rt=nc&si=9poaBf74bbZdAOo7MY6YiXIAlGM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_2491wt_922

The listing has ended, but after messaging the seller, he informed me it was still available.  I live in the very liberal city of Portland, OR and must admit that I harbor some concerns as to the negative response this might illicit from my fellow man on the street.  Up to this point I have never considered purchasing a fur item of any kind and my ethical compass is kind of ambiguous regarding how I feel about it...and it does seem the type of piece one would need to "rock" with confidence in order to pull off.  On the other hand, it is absolutely beautiful.  I recently purchased a BC leather jacket and am now hooked and draining my bank account at break neck speed.

I realize these "I'm a noob, help me!" threads can be taxing, but I appeal to the collective to lend me some perspective.

Id rock that. Hard.

Fur collars are badass. Do it.

I think that would fly pretty well in Portland. It looks more casual than dressy to be honest, and the tweed gives it some character.

would SO rock that if it were a proper double-breast design (6X2)...........

My wallet is quivering with anticipation.  My credit card is fracturing from overuse.  The world is ending in 2012.  I have no excuse.

We'll see what the seller quotes me.  I'll update when the outcome is decided.

I would love a jacket like that one!

Collar looks more like rabbit to my eye than fox. Nice jacket though.

Auction ended so I hope you bought it. Jacket is bad ass.

I don't understand how people can be so against fur and still eat meat and wear leather.

I think its pretty cool, you should wear it.

Simple…. There are necessity for us to live (meat /leather) and there are unnecessary killing of Non farm animal for our pleasure.

Anybody wanting a coat like this, or nearly- pm me. I'll beat that e-bayer's price ! I've got 50 and 52 in a SINGLE-BREAST version of Cucinelli 95wool/5 cashmere with big bushy fox collar. Same brown/cream file like tweed. Collar is detachable for those times you are hitting on fox friendly foxes.
