I am slightly over 27 but I have been rocking penny loafers for a while now. What else should be worn in the summer?

well that's what i mean - i really don't know what shoes to wear with these suits. i bought a pair of black wingtip shoes from naples that goes with both suits well, but as far as a brown shoe i really don't know

fortunately, money isn't the issue - my knowledge on style is baldy[1].gif

Don't mind the haters, they be everywhere we go. Penny loafers are not an item that is limited to age. I prefer penny loafers but I throw in some tassels and colorful drivers for good measure here and there when summer hits. Anyone wearing lace-ups in summer without a suit is a moron and athletic shoes are made for being athletic.

To the OP, I'm not sure how much research or lurking you've done on the site, so excuse me if I am being a bit presumptuous here. However, if you say something like "money is no object" around these parts, you are opening up Pandora's box. If money were seriously no object I'd have a last in John Lobb on St. Jame's last vault. So you see I think you need to give some sort of parameter.

For someone who is not that well versed in shoes I would also do a good bit of research before you drop $1,000+ (or even $500+ for that matter) on a pair of shoes. Figure out what you like, what works for you, what features you must have, what features you hate, lasts that appeal to your eye, lasts that appeal to your feet, etc, etc.

Unfortunately money alone will not afford you good taste or an informed point of view on anything we discuss in depth on this forum*.

*Though it sure as shit helps.

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know who John Lobb or St Jame are lol.

I'm just looking for a great pair of dark brown shoes for my dark navy suit. I guess between $300-$700? I do like the style of wingtips better than the other styles.

Where are you located? Can you have a look at nice shoes in person?

Finding a brown shoe that goes with a navy suit is really not that hard. Just buy from a good maker (which is perfectly possible with the money you mentioned) and you're good to go.

I'm not dead set against them but I'm just not a fan. There are some sleek loafers that really do look nice but I guess I have been tainted by old men in tassel loafers.

I live about 1 hour from NYC.

I really like the Finsbury 2 - those are probably my favorites. The sad thing is I've never even heard of Crockett & Jones shog[1].gif

If you plan on sticking around this forum, get use to hearing that name. OP, what maker did you buy your shoes from in Naples? I'm dying to see some awesome picks biggrin.gif
