Buttoning A Dress Shirt: Top to Bottom or Bottom to Top?

Thread Starter

someone on this site once said buttoning a dress shirt from bottom to top is better because the shirt lasts longer that way. Can't find the thread now.

Any validity to this?

Also....one time on 'All in the Family' Archie and Meathead were arguing about shoes and socks. Archie said men put on sock/sock, shoe/shoe, but Meathead said sock/shoe, sock/shoe because if there is a fire and you have to go outside, you can hop on the foot with sock/shoe and stay dry, as opposed to being in two socks w/out shoes.

Thoughts?

I think you need to get a girlfriend.

Mind if this is typical of your banter I'll be shocked if a girl goes anywhere near you.

I remember that All in the Family episode.

Button from the middle up and then down. That's how men in the highest tax bracket do it.

Thank you. I am going to post this in SWD so we can continue to make unfair generalizations about this side of the forum.

Actually the 1% have the shirt buttoned for them. That's one of the things the upstairs maid does.

This is actually how I do it. I close the button closest to the waist/navel, just like a suit jacket or sport coat, because of my habit from wearing aforementioned coats.

Only women have their maids button their clothing. This is one of the reasons that womens clothing buttons the opposite way teacha.gif

Velcro is the way to go. Mark my words, in ten years all shirts will be using it!

(Is it my imagination, or have we had an increase in really stupid threads recently?)
