What jeans fit like the old Levi's 505s? - Page 2

post #16 of 19

I've found three possible alternative solutions to the "Can't Find Them 505 Blues";

1) Eddy Bauer Classic Fit

2) Wrangler Regular Fit Straight

3) Tommy Hilfinger Custom Straight

For a direct replacement, in terms of look and feel, the Eddy Bauers' are great.

The Wranglers fit OK, and are inexpensive, but some of us wore Levi's partly for the brand identity.

The Hilfinger's are a bit more dressy, with a darker tone and brighter stitching.

This was determined by an afternoon of visiting the local outlet mall and just trying things on until I found some that "felt" right.  (My size is 34 x 34.)

Happy Hunting!

After 35 years of Levi's 505, I just gave All American Clothing a try with their AA101D Jeans.  I love them and will never go back to Levi's.  Look on the internet of a 10% off coupon (some electrican's union).  Worked out to be only a little more than 505 cost, and they are 100% Made In America to boot.

This thread explains something I didn't understand. I've been wearing Levi 505's since 1956 (I'm now 70). I can proudly recant my body's growth by remembering. 30-32 in college, 32-32 thru age 30, the 34-32 for many years, then 36-32. In 2011 I ordered two pair of 36-32 online and when they arrived, they were four inches too long! And crampy in the middle. Sorry that Levi has come to this.
