I have been away on business every week since september, so I've had very few opportunities to wear my ninja sox prototypes that were sent to me. BUT I did have a chance to test out each one.
Let me tell you guys, the Ninja Dress Sox are gonna blow your minds. I personally don't like the no sock look with dress shoes, but for those that do? These are incredible. They're very thin, which worries me in the sense that longevity may be an issue, but they are so breathable and have that perfect silhouette with a dress shoe. A true no show. I know these will be a big hit for Ninja Sox because they perfectly wrap the foot and don't bunch up at the ankle when trying to slip into a shoe.
I also received a prototype similar to the current offerings, but this one had a lower side seem which was perfect for me. My original Ninja Sox worked perfectly with converse, supergas, Nike's and other trainers, but when it came to boat shoes, I still had some "Show." So for me, Ninja Sox were the true "mostly no - show" socks. But in the summer, I do like my boat shoes and penny loafers, so while Ninja was still the closest I'd found to a true no-show, it wasnt 100% effective with loafers. However, the second prototype I received totally rectified the situation. These really are true no-show's, even in boat shoes. I hope the rest of you who had that issue of seeing a little side sock peaking out also find the same results when the updated shape hits the web.
Now for the most odd of the bunch. I received an almost alien style mitten sock that I was not fond of but have been assured that it was just an idea and not a likely future product. This one literally had a divider between the Big Toe and the other 4. You slipped the sock on and your big toe slipped into his home, and the other guys rested in their home. This is not my bread and butter. I always hated that weird trend that girls went through with the five-finger rainbow toe socks. This was like a bad reminder of that. If however you're into that kinda thing and have been dying for an opportunity to wear no-show socks with flip-flops...have I got a treat for you. PM and I'll ship em to you :) jk.
Needless to say, the dress sox and updated silhouette of the standard ninjas are bound to make a lot of people happy. I can imagine every fashion blog and magazine highlighting the dress socks as a MUST HAVE for spring/summer 2013. They truly are. I actually might like them better than the standard ninja sox even for wear with my Superga's and Nike's. Theres something about the thinness of the material that just makes them feel so seamless and appropriate when one is searching for a true No-Show.
I have pics on my digital cam at home but I'm 4 hours away from it, so I can't upload right now, but I did want to get a review out there in the meantime. I've been too slow to post my comments but I wanted to have the opportunity to give each sock a few machine washes and wears. They have all certainly held up to regular laundering and drying. No holes or wear patterns to report just yet.
