Electric Tooth Brush Users?

I was wondering if any members use these devices. My dentist suggested I should look into getting one. Are they worth the money and are they that much better than a regular brush? Thanks!!

I used to use Braun (for a couple of years) but I've always heard that the Sonic is by far the best. They're pretty nice. Not so great if you are going to do lots of travelling as they need to be on a charger when not in use.

I use the braun, love it, totally diferent cleaning expereince. I don't travel with it, though.

I use the Braun also. I love it. Much better than a regular toothbrush, IMO. I have mine for more than 5 years now. I want to upgrade to a Rotadent, but my Braun will not die.

I'm using an Oral-B (motor made by braun) that I bought for about $16. It works pretty well. I've been using electric toothbrushes for the past 2-3 years and dont think I'd go back to normal toothbrush. Anyway, I may upgrade to a fancy electric sometime.

I use the Sonicare at the suggestion of my dentist; have been for a few years now. It's definitely contributed to reversing the gingivitis I had developed....When traveling, I revert to a standard manual toothbrush.

I got a crest spin brush (dentist suggested starting with a cheap one). Works pretty well and keeps me from brushing too hard. Takes AAA batteries, and they last like six months.

I use the Sonicare as well, also at the recommendation of my dentist (to help receding gumlines). It's made a huge difference and I think (hope?) my teeth are even a bit whiter than they once were. If memory serves, Consumer Reports or some similar service completed an evalutation a few years back that ranked the Sonicare #1. I'm unsure if that still holds, but try Google and see what you find for yourself.

I see some people have cited noticeable improvements as the result of using an electric -- is that the case with most of you who prefer an electric to a standard? I bought a Sonicare about 5 years ago and used it for a while, but then for some reason I can't even remember, I ended up going back to a standard at some point and never got back to it. I don't recall being dissatisfied with it for any particular reason, so I wonder if I should try using it again.

I have a braun oral b which was about $90 a few years ago, similar models are $40 or less now.

I have also heard that Sonicare is superior, so if you dont have any electric brush yet and are going for the top of the line, you might want to research that. However, braun is always coming out with new products too.

I travel with mine all the time, without the charger. I brush 2 times a day and I find that it lasts at least 15 days on a single full charge. Pretty impressive. I dont know how long sonicares last.

Lastly, I find that more important than the minor differences in technology is that mine is timed. 2 minutes. It forces you to brush that long. I think 2 minutes is far longer than most people brush with a regular toothbrush. Seriously, I think a lot of people brush for about 45 seconds.

And dont forget to floss, lol

I used a sonicare for several years. When I moved out I reverted to a regular brush but would like to get a newer sonicare again. Its kinda weird at first and makes your mouth feel kinda funny but works great.

Sonicare here. It leaves all my teeth feeling smooth, unlike a normal brush, and gets way back into places I wouldn't bother to reach. When I travel (rarely), I take it with (cover the button, because modern bombs don't tick, they vibrate ) and it lasts at least a week and a half on no charging (used on avg. ~1.7x a day). It also does a good job of cleaning my tongue off.

The only issue I have is that the one I have has a cover behind the brush head where gunk gets stuck very quickly and it looks nasty. I wish it had an easy way to keep it clean. Most of the newer ones don't have the cover thing, but I have read that they also fling stuff all over the mirror when you do the front...

They work VERY well. You'll enver go back. It's the one area of my life that I'm glad isn't retro.
