Narrow Dark Brown Cap Toe Oxford - the search continues...

It seems I have searched myself into a circle looking for a pair of dark brown calf oxfords and am finally going to throw it out there that I need some suggestions. I am a 13 A/B with up to about $400 to spend. I have a few pairs of AEs that would be the simple fix, however I do not like their PA or the 5th Ave. I have looked toward C&J, which is what I would love to do, however the 348 is a little to elongated for my foot/build (slim and 6'4"), I have no experience with the 236 or 341.

I could try the Alden 920 and size down to a 12.5 C, however the last doesn't appear too elegant in my eyes. Any knowledge or experience on offerings between AE and C&J would be appreciated.

Size down at least a full size for Carminas, and I know they're a little bit more expensive than your budget but they're beautiful.

Carminas are good. I would also look at DC Lewis.

What is it that you don't like about the AE PA or FA?

C&J Handgrades are over your budgeted amount, but you might like the 337 last of the Audley.

C&J Hallam.  Definitely narrow, fits your price range.

The 348 is a little elongated for my size 13

The toe cap is too small/too far forward on them, causing them to look 'stubby' in my opinion.

If your foot is narrow can you size down a bit to control the length? I would admit that in your size the 348 last might be long. The 341 is a good bit shorter, although less dramatic.
