My first try coordinating my outfit, well, ever. Opinions?

I think the cravat colour is too light to wear with a white shirt. Would have been nicer in a pattern

Also I think it is more correct to just have one button unbuttoned when wearing a cravat

Thanks for the reply. The cravat is actually darker than it looks here - bright lighting and a rubbish camera don't help!

I thought I only had one button undone, but looking again it seems you were right. More haste less speed, I think.

Are you asking for opinions on whether a cravat looks good in general, or about this particular one?

Well I thought that would be obvious, me including a picture and everything.

I'm looking for constructive criticism of my outfit in the picture.

It makes you look like you have swollen neck glands.

I have a fat neck. Nowt I can do about it.

Perhaps some ideas of what I could try? Instead of plain criticism?

Thank you.

Do you think there's anything I could add / do?

No, I mean the cravat itself looks like fat flesh. Change the color.

To be honest I'm going to have to take a picture in daylight. The picture makes it look almost pink - which it isn't - it's much darker and less pink!

Are there any colours you'd recommend though?

Navy, burgundy or (darker) yellow. Patterns such as polka dot and paisley work well.

Hilditch and Key is a good place to buy them

Wear the existing colour cravat with more beard or perhaps a patterned but not too loud shirt. In fact a nice pencil striped w- button down collar would be a start as long as it is quiet. If you do a pocket square with this ensemble I would suggest plain linen and show only a sliver of it. The combination if shirt, jacket, cravat and pocket square should be well thought out or it can easily look like a dogs breakfast. Play with some options and photo each, then post the photos. Or perhaps lay out a few shirts and pocket squares so we can recommend one for you.

It looks like you need a shave.

I believe most connoisseurs of the cravat/ascot regard solid-colored ones as being a bit substandard.
