Need deets, please pm. Are Garden City and Port Wentworth shitty places to live? I like some semblance of a downtown, but I know I can't afford downtown Savannah and accomplish my financial goals. I've heard Pooler's nice, but it seems awfully like suburban hell to me.

I visited a few years ago and I liked it a lot, but not as much as Charleston, other than that I can't help you

It's striking me as the kind of town that's great to visit, shitty to live in. I'm going to wind up living in the suburbs, something I had always hoped to avoid. To me suburbs combine the worst of rural and urban existence, with the only "comfort" being the racial and ideological homogeneity. And if I wanted that, I'd move back to North Dakota.

You know, that doesn't surprise me. I've known a few people who've lived there, and they never seem to rave about it the way people who visit do. I'm sure it's also not nearly as awesome if you live in the 'burbs. I'd imagine those areas would be sorely lacking in the things that make Savannah cool.

i have a lot of friends there and visit quite often... I tend to hang south of the city. My inital concern about the two burbs mentioned would be that there are near the airport and tend to be industrial.. the port is located there as well...

There is a good bbq place in Garden City if i remember correctly.
