Groomsmen Ties: Need URGENT help

Hey guys,

I'm getting married in 17 days and haven't yet bought ties for the groomsmen. I requested they all wear dark suits so am expecting some black, some charcoal, some navy and need a tie which would suit all of them.

I ordered some 'wedding' ties from Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, but they were really boring and expensive considering they wouldn't ever be worn again (around 150$ CAD plus tax).

I tried a Bluefly and a few other online tie places but they problem is that I need 5 of the same tie and most of these discount sites stock 3 maximum.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really really appreciate it.

Solution: You do not need 5 of the same tie. It looks silly.

Well, that is true, but I don't know exactly what everyone is wearing so it would be difficult to just purchase 5 random ties and hope they match, and only 1/5 actually share my taste so I wouldnt trust that my friends don't go buy dumb shit and look ridiculous in pics (i.e., super skinny or themed ties)

Don't buy online, go to Macy's. Huge selection, cheap, always well-stocked. You should buy them in person because, I presume, you are matching the ties to some kind of color swatch (e.g. bridesmaids dresses). If you're not matching the ties to anything, then do as unbelragazzo said and don't get 5 of the same tie.

Also, if you're worried about your groomsmen's suits, there's no reason you can't ask them what suit they are wearing - it's only in 17 days and I guarantee they have already decided.

+1. Any combo of Black, white, gray or silver in a shepard's check, houndstooth, macclesfield or glenplad will be fine. Not as formal, but you could probably do a grenadine as well.

Please don't do this.

Convince your wife that it will look ridiculous. As for 5 ties that go well together, it's not much harder than finding 5 of the same tie. Here, let me do it for you...choose any combination of 5 out of this group and you can't possibly go wrong:

I just came out of a Brooks Brothers outlet an hour ago, they had a really big selection of pretty nice ties, sale prices went from $16 each up to about $40. There were a lot of nice looking ties, lot of ties period. would be easy to put together matching, or at least similar colored, ties at a reasonable price.

Yah it doesn't sound like the other posters are familiar with that adage.

Thanks for the Keng Wang link -- some of those look great.

To the other poster -- unfortunately, I'm in Vancouver, Canada and popping into a Macy's would require a major flight. The best I can hope for is Holt Renfrew or Harry Rosen -- both of which are very expensive and have a mediocre selection.
