I like it a lot [edit: with dark trousers, didn't realize they were black .. doh!]. Certainly not conservative, but if it fits your style and the occasion - why not. Edit2: I've seen this combination worn in Italy with style, and it can work. Definitely better than dark brown shoes worn with black pants ...

Black and brown can work well together, but not in this instance. Part of the problem is that it's generally difficult to wear shoes that are a lighter color than the pants, and everything but black is lighter than black.
