A day or two later, they announced that they had sided with the buyer and forced me to refund him.
Paypal will screw you every time.

People are buying shit on ebay and both seller and buyer will screw up the buyer. Then buyer ask money back, paypal make judgment and seller muse refund.
Sell gets angry and tell the bank charge back whatever the credit card or bank transfer. Finally paypal screwed up.

I think they are still losing money every year,

if you lose the case, the buyer will send the sweater back and you refund. If this is the case, sweater remain original condition. that's OK.

However, saying if you received another different item, or the buyer make damage to the sweater, you are screwed.

I think paypal policy is, seller cannot use same reason to dispute (damage item)

I hope he's stupid enough to not put tracking on that, and I could file the "item not received" back, would that work?

I don't know if you believe in karma. If you do, please let it take its course on this buyer.

I understand that you are frustated and I would be too, but to lower your standard so that you can retaliate on this buyer is not the ethically right thing to do.

Well, I'm a buddhist so it makes sense why I say things like this, so it is totally up to you what you want to do.

To answer your question, it should work.

Yes, that will work. If its over $250, it needs to be sent with a signature requirement. Under $250, just delivery confirmation. If he sends by slow boat, he will most likely lose.

Brutal feedback, that buyer is a very sick and disturbed individual.

Wow, I am getting this vomity acidic feeling in my stomach reading these horror stories with eBay / Paypal. I also get filled with an overwhelming sense of misjustice, I want to go Charles Bronson on those idiots that have nothing better to do with their lives than complain, steal, cheat, or just be general assholes.

Yeah you're toast. Going forward..

You've been a member of eBay for 2 weeks.
The vast majority of your seller feedback is from the same buyer of a penny auction. Bit fishy.
One of your few non-penny auction feedback alleges that you sell fakes. Whale of a fish.

As a buyer on eBay I wouldn't touch your stuff with a ten foot pole.

I would consider starting over without the penny auctions.

Yeah, what's up with the 22 sales to the same dude for a sum total of $0.22? That doesn't look good. Also, NOT showing pictures of damage is a big no-no. I'm with HomerJ, I would have passed you over as fishy.

*update*

so, looks a bit like some shill bidding to get ratings on a new account, no? I mean your biggest buyer is selling the same item you are, the penny with a cross?

What's more...one of the buyers buying these from him is ALSO selling the picture of a penny with a cross...Oh, wait! It's you.

Haha, I actually dont know who that buyer is, but everytime i post, he bids, so i'm not complaining. I just started this new account so penny auctions after 3 months build solid feedbacks, dont judge. Also, because its a new account, not like I mind starting over.

Edit: shill biddings only increase rating counts, not feedback counts (the one rated with stars), so its pretty silly to shill bidding in my opinion. Penny auctions work wonder.

Very odd. sam.herbert.8, this buyer of the penny w/ cross... all he does is buy one cent items.

You make a good point. Usually I just check the number of feedbacks and the rating. I'll be certain to check the items in the future too.

All looks rather dodgy to me.

Well, I made a mistake for which I apologize; I inadvertently selected buyer feedback, rather than seller feedback when looking at sam.herbert.8's history. As a result it "appeared" that you were buying the same photo from them that they were buying from you.

I used shill bidding as the description because I could not think of a another similar description which would have someone purchasing $0.01 items between multiple id's to drive up their feedback numbers. Strangely though sam.herbert.8 frequently buys $0.01 items [like digital pictures] from other people...strange and fishy, just like this item they purchased
