"not life-threatening" and "critical" seem to be at odds...

Damn hope he pulls through. Fyi the Lewis Hamilton song seems to be a hoax - at least on twitter he posted that it wasn't him and he didn't know who his supposed collaborator is

This says he was/may still be in a coma, is in critical condition after brain surgery... hit his (helmet wearing) head on a rock in a fall.

I wouldn't believe much of what you read at this point. He hit his head, that's about all that I consider a fact here. I do hope he's ok. Considering skiing is done at speed its likely it was a hard impact, if he was in fact wearing a helmet, he's probably ok.

Latest is that he is in an induced coma following brain surgery. Everything I've read has come either from his spokeswoman or the hospital, so it seems like the information is reliable.

Schumacher was in a coma when he arrived at the hospital and required immediate brain surgery, officials said. So far, he has undergone one operation and is being kept in an induced coma, they said Monday.

Doctors at the Grenoble hospital said that without the helmet's protection, Schumacher wouldn't have made it to the operating table.

Must have been seriously cooking... high risk off-piste.

Wow, I just learned that the new 8 speed gearboxes are fixed ratios, and you can only change them once a season. That's very interesting, so you will basically go to Monza with the same gearing as Monaco. I suspect the cars wont get past 6th gear in Monaco.

I actually like the move, seems like it should optimize cars for certain races, and should spread wins out across more teams.

What about the rear diff / final drive? Is there wiggle room there?
