the sound change didn't bother me. I quite enjoy the supercharger whine of the current 'power units'. the formula is the backstory; the racing which comes as a result of the formula is where my interest lies

Lotus switching to Merc engines from 2015 on. dark horse potential

Is Alonso + Mclaren Honda a done deal already? I am still wondering if Ron Denis actually wants Alonso to lead the team forward with this fresh engine change. Apparently there is some bad history between Ron Dennis and Alonso which is why Alonso moved to Ferrari in the first place. On the other hand, what other options are there? not may I suppose:

- keep Button for another year or so and try to get Hamilton back in the meantime?
- sign someone unlikely like Grojean, Hulkenburg, or even Verne (all fast but not champion caliber yet).

I love the sound of that old Honda, but for me the shape of the car is what really does it for me. So beautiful.

As part of getting Honda, Dennis had to promise an elite driver. Only 4 or 5 exist, so I think they are both holding their nose. You might see Alonso move to another Honda engine'd team at some point because, again, his contract is with Honda, not McLaren.

I feel sorry for Jean-Eric Vergne ,,

He is making the best out of the Toro Rosso and will not get a driving seat next year due to political and financial reasons..

McLaren Honda is an ueber-classic combo (Senna/Prost anyone?!). Could be a surprise revival. And LH and SV in talks as well? At least as per espn..

Why would Lewis race with Sebastian when he can barely handle Nico?

Not sure that's true. What political and financial reasons?

His young Russian Daniil Kvyat is landing Vettel's driver seat when Vergne has left him behind so many times this year in term of points and driving.

I was talking to one of the engineer who travel with us and he told me Vergne has no financial backers behind him and that is his problem..

He is neutral in that story and he told me Vergne is their best driver by far and that pow is shared by the all team behind doors.

Surely you jest. Twice as many wins is barely handling? Lewis hasn't been perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but that's ludicrous. And Seb's ultimate quality has to be in question after this year. Undeniably quick, but perhaps not the dominant driver that the past four years might have suggested.

Why would JEV get Vettel's seat when they basically fired him for Verstappen? He's beating Daniil but he's supposed to. I think Daniil is doing an incredible job for a rookie and seems to be a pretty tough minded person which is what Red Bull wants. IF JEV deserved a seat so much other teams would be looking very seriously at him. Maybe they are. It'd be interesting if he landed at Force India or something.

so you're saying the deal is done already between Alonso + Honda?

If so, how do you guys think the rest of the seats will play out? Button, Verne seem like drivers still deserving of a F1 ride.

There is almost no chance JEV is in F1 next year. F1 is very fickle. When a guy is viewed as 'not having it' then they'll push him out. There are a host of drivers vying for seats:

Stoffel van Doorne
Antonio Felix da Costa
Marco Wittman
Alex Lynn
Carlos Sainz Jr
Jolean Palmer

Yeah, deal is done.

I think Button is gone, he's not quick enough anymore, gets beaten by every teammate. Even Barichello almost beat him. JEV, see above.
