Mercedes sucked as a works team the year before Lewis joined and everyone thought he was nuts to go to an uncompetitive team. Staying with FI guarantees Nico will never win a championship. At least with Renault he has a slight chance to one day win one.

That Merc was consistently 6th or 7th in races, Schumi even put it on pole once. That's a big difference from being booted out of Q3 which is where Renault is. Fair point because I even remember thinking Lewis was nuts.

In my defense, Red Bull uses their engines, and I have a really hard time seeing them outperform the customer team anytime soon.

Face it, he did it for the salary.

Renault sucks right now because the chassis was built for a Mercedes engine. The 2017 car should be much better since the chassis and power unit are both going to be Renault designed. My guess is they'll consistently challenge for points next year instead of being a backmarker team right now.

My understanding is that Renault are having difficulty recruiting technical talent because the medium-term stability of the team is in doubt. Ironically, Renault have been in F1 for most of the past 30 years, but they keep going in and out, flipping back and forth between engine supplier and constructor.

I've always wondered why they do that. They've had plenty of success, why not stick with it?

It's not my bag, but clearly F1 should be talking to Lewis about cross-brand strategies... smile.gif

Seems like every team now is looking for the next Max and throwing in under developed teenagers.

Only a few seats are still unconfirmed.
1 Renault
1 FI
2 Manor's

Update: just read that Lance is bringing in $35M a year to Williams.

MV's defensive moving under breaking has finally been banned by Charlie Whiting. It took him long enough to ban Max's dangerous maneuver.

Nanny racing. Now you can't move under braking. Just move over and let everyone thru.

Not much of a race.

Rosberb flubbed the 1st corner, should have kept the inside line. After that he was playing for 2nd the whole way.

During quali and the race, please stop showing us this Vonn chick. Why the fucking earth do we care? Ugh.

Alonso doing wonders in that Macca.

Lotta "USA! USA!" wankers in that crowd.

Red Bull got outsmarted on that VSC pit stop. Didn't need the VSC, that car was miles off the track. Charlie Whiting needs to go. He's the one killing the racing.
