we stood along track, perhaps 100 m up the road for some practice

right at the throttle/braking transition point, perhaps 10 m off the line

the noise is, well you know

but what really makes an impression, these cars are storming by at 180 mph and there is NO air disturbance, no wind, nothing, perfectly still...that is how slick they are

I explained a few posts/pages ago my first ever encounter with an F1 car was probably in that same spot.

The one thing you do feel is your body shaking from the engine.

There is another spot like that in Canada, or there used to be, right off of turn 2, you could stand slightly above the cars right at the fence, literally 4 or 5 feet away, man, you could not stand there without earplugs. The noise is just earsplitting.

I read a story recently that said they could coexist.

Dumb rumor really. Alonso has 1st driver in his contract. Vettel wont take 2nd status. And he is shielded at R Bull via that guy... cant remember his name. Would be stupid to move.

My guess is the rumor is coming from him as he doesnt want Hamilton as a teammate.

Vettel isn't available until 2014, right?

I am now full of jelly.... thanks for the porn guys, I had a happy fap!
Sadly, I've only been to Canada on GA - my work is a pretty heavy chain&ball frown.gif Though next year, I can play for CAN, TX ,and NJ (assuming that happens)

It's funny you can tell who the 'first timers' when the cars passes lol I was going to try and be a champ and not use my earbuds but not even 10laps passed, and they're in lol8[1].gif

I disregarded that rumor with Vettel...at least for now. A few months ago it was Webbo, then it was someone else, then someone different before... what seems like the trend is - it just depends on who's having a great race weekend.

Alonso is the ultimate prima donna - he's a great driver but he's also great about bitching until he gets his way. That 'coexist'-ing part is bs.

@SB - you got to sit in it???! *swoon*

The Williams cars might have good pace this weekend.... both Pastor & Senna are towards the top in P1/P2...... then again, it's been a crapshot to base things off of practice runs. The big teams always sandbag their setups.

Yes! Schumacher gets a podium! Funny all three today won championships with Ferrari.

Maldonado is a world class idiot. Off the track and he t-bones Hamilton.

It was clear Hamilton lost his tires and was a sitting duck. Why he didnt back out of the corner and try again on the next lap shows he's a hot headed petulant driver.

Hamilton did a brilliant job defending that move and was sorely rewarded for a great effort.

Funny, his race was lost in the pits, not there. Why McLaren cant get their shit together in the pits is a fucking mystery. Alonso got ahead there. My point being that the incident with Maldonado should have never happened to begin with. Maldonado is still an idiot.

Congrats to Schumi, benefited from the stupidity of others.

Hate seeing that cheat Alonso win.

Hamilton should have allowed for the fact that Maldonado is an idiot. That incident was 100-percent caused by having paved run-off. With grass or gravel off track, Maldonado would have had to back off on entry or go off. There would have been no coming back on the subsequent left-hander.

As it turns out, the stewards also thought Maldonado was in the wrong and penalized him 20s, dropping him out of the points.

And, yes, McLaren's pitstops are comical.

I agree with the above, Maldonado is an idiot.

Just when I thought McLarens pit-stops were hitting a nice stride, they prove themselves incapable.

And can someone shed some light on Jenson?
Apparently he got the same improvements Hamilton had this weekend, and he's nowhere near the pace.
Seems mighty uncomfortable in the car.
