Mosquito, eh? It's a good-looking car. I love the all-red with black wings livery of that era. The current thing they're doing with the swooping black is just odd.

Caterham have succeeded in producing a genuinely ugly car:

Thanks for your thoughts. I am planning on going for the entire weekend. I have been to the Indianapolis GP a number of times, but never practice and qualifying which should be fun. I have been debating between grandstand 12 and 15, but leaning towards 15.

Renault having big problems in testing. Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari have a leg up.

My favorite car so far is that Force India... that's a nice looking car. The Ferrari has grown on me.

Eric Boullier is in charge of McLaren now. Interesting move.

I saw a few clips of the testing. The cars sound like complete ****. They sound like a boy racer's car. That scream is gone, and the engine note is very muted. I have no idea why, but its MUCH quieter than in the past.

There is this very strange whirring sound under braking coming from the new KERS system.

All that exhaust blown diffuser popping sound is gone too. That's actually good. Otherwise its a disappointment...

Saw the clips too and was disappointed in the sound. Sounds more like a lower formula car now.

Interesting that Boullier is going to Mclaren as it seems a good possibility Whitmarsh may go to Lotus. Also on the management side it will be interesting to watch Mercedes since Brawn left.

I wonder if this expensive rules change is actually going to end up being the right move. It sounds like a good idea to go "green" and make F1 more relevant technology-wise, but I have feeling that hybrids are already old tech. Hybrids are the norm now in street cars, but it seems in a few years they will all be replaced by electric and a few years after that by hydrogen. Maybe even with the disappointing sound from the new F1 cars we should happy there is any sound at all :)

Early days, the cars aren't going anywhere near flat out. Nonetheless, I don't mind the new sound. I like that it's a bit more complex than the high pitch of the V8s. I like all the cars actually. I'm really digging the different approaches by the teams. The Force INdia is actually my least favorite so far. I actually like the Caterham because it's so far out. Ferrari and Mercedes look relatively straightforward. The McLaren looks great. Very exciting pre-season.

The cars sound fine. Different, but fine. I think the Red Bull integrates the nose very well. Mercedes' version of the platypus is much more attractive than Ferrari's. The Caterham is an abomination, but they've been stuck on their very square design for a while now. Overall, I'm happy with the shake-up.

Is Ferrari supplying engines only to sauber? I hope they will be able to log a lot of miles on those units. Better to have failures now

Eh, Ferrari is much more lovable as losers than as winners.

Nah. Marussia too. Not that it means anything.

You guys are mongoloids. That sound sucks. Worse than the turbo V6's from the 80s. The commentators watching the cars whir by don't even need earplugs and can EVEN TALK OVER THE CARS. Dude, in last year's spec that was totally impossible.

Having been to 7 races live, I could just tell those cars are muted as ****. This is a huge step back in terms of experience. The old sound literally shook you live. Even J Button was like 'hey, I loved the sound of the old cars too, but this is what we got'.

You guys are in denial. These cars sound like F3 at best. With all this technology they couldn't manage this better??

^agreed.

having seen the v10s and v8s in person. these sound terrible. v10s made my head hurt after 20-30 minutes. v8's were bearable unless you got super close

V10s were the best sounding F1 cars ever. That 2005 Ferrari sounded incredible.
