Shorts and a Blazer

Summer wear, of course, or continuous wear in warmer climates.

Somebody a few years ago brought up this question about shorts and blazers at ask andys.
Most thought it was a terrible idea because they couldn't visualize it with the right combination and attitude.
Looking at the picture above it is shown that it can be done pleasingly.
Some businesses this would work fine. Some businesses are staunchly stagnant.
But even in some banks some males could do this and look correct as attitudes have certainly changed considerably in the last 50 years.
There are always plenty of males that need to wear long pants, but those who don't need to this is a nice break.

In the right countries this would be fine in many circumstances. Many people are far too stuffy about what they wear at certain times and their efficiency falls whatever they believe to the contrary.

Are you proving you can't do it. Some guys do need their wife's to dress them.

What I see today in banks of shirts and ties is all wrong 40 years ago. And, where are the proper coats to go with it?
Are the banks wrong today, or have times properly changed to fit into today's world?

Sorry, but no. If it's warm enough for shorts, it's warm enough to lose the jacket.

The photo is Mr. Moo, not me. He posted it to much fanfare a few years back: 262
But you are correct, I can't do it.

This does NOT work. Not a single element of the ensemble is right.

Some of us are beyond the age of wearing shorts for some events.
A tan would help, too.
And air conditioning would be a problem some places.
Hairy legs would be a problem for some.
Mr. Moo is a perfect example of why some shouldn't. (glad that is not you KObalto.)
On some people it is pleasant.

As a late comer, I didn't get the story of this pic. Is that 100% Moo or is that a MooFoo bastard child pic?

I've seen it done here in DC, for instance at Kentucky Derby parties when it's particularly too hot. Like everything, fit is everything. Some people pull it off very well with a well fitting linen shirt, linen jacket and linen dress shorts. Having nice legs doesn't hurt either wink.gif

Interesting, without seeing the photo you posted, I'd say that it'd be a terrible idea.

But with that photo, the outfit looks on point. You would definitely need everything to be fitted and tailored well.

It's common in certain preppy/Tradly circles in the South, particularly for college guys.

Yeah but for college age guys it's not really for many occasions that a post-grad would experience. Speaking as someone who does this occasionally, it's for crawfish boils, gameday, etc. where we like to get dress up but also are kind of just dicking around.
