I know I could go to any of a dozen "muscle" forums and get a lot of really intense answers from a lot of "professionals", so I figured I would ask and see what you guys think about a few things.

Starting off I am a big guy, Im 6'7" and about 290 at the moment, I have a dislocated knee so running is kinda out of the question at the moment. I am a college student and am not looking to drop a couple hundred bucks on some breathtaking new supplements that make me feel awesome then like **** when I go to class in the morning. Also means I don't have complete access to the best read (healthy) food.

Basically I hadn't worked out for a solid 5 months or so because I severely f*****d my knee up, I am trying to get back into it but am looking more to drop body fat while not losing strength. I have been trying to stay with lower weights and higher reps, just about everything I do is a 4x12 or 4x15. Im taking protein daily, and I use piracetam and Geranium powder as a pre-workout.

wtf are you taking racetams for? racetams are nootropics. highly doubt that has any benefits. you might as well take green tea extract or something if you want something to help you focus and get relaxed.

anyways just eat lean protein and veggies everyday until you get full. some oatmeal or potatoes or pasta on workout days

I like the idea of combining some geranium extract, beta alanine, and some caffeine pills. Nutra planet stocks some decent dose of geranium extract. The other two, you can get them anywhere else. Gives you that kick you always wanted. Might crash later in the day though, so give yourself a small hit first. Geranium extract (1,3 Dimethylamylamine) is also one of the ingredients in those party pills in europe. Gets you all euphoric and pumped.

Well first off I take the Nerotropics because they allow me to focus without feeling jittery with a lot of caffeine. My problem mainly lied with the fact that I was taking whatever I had at the moment. I went to Complete Nutrition yesterday and picked up a few things; IsoPure zero carb protein and "Adrenalize" I am going to be taking about 280-320grams of protein per day and am taking between 2-3 pills a day. Know anything about adrenalize? And would you suggest anything else. Really trying to get rid of fat while also not losing strength.

The online lifting (bro) community puts way too much stock in supplements. You don't need much, and the benefits are small. Protein, maybe some creatine if you've been lifting for awhile. Ephedrine/caffeine stack if you want to lose weight faster and increase perceived energy. Focus on eating well and lifting hard. And get enough sleep, that helps incredibly with focus and energy.

i have to agree. if you want to lost fat and get stronger stop worrying about supplements. they're like 1% of the solution. veggies, lean protein, carbs after workout. be patient cuz it's going to take awhile

if you're lifting hard and eating well you will get stronger while losing fat.

^ I agree entirely my thing is that for my size I "should" be taking about 290-300 grams of protein a day which to me sound ridiculous. Plus the supplements do help, i don't know about you but It is next to impossible for me to go to class work etc. then have enough natural energy to go and workout for an hour or so.

Yeah, cell-tech does good work if I was trying to gain mass and more muscle, I am trying to cut fat and simply maintain my current muscle mass.

I use energy supplements to get ****** to the gym and lift effectively when I'm trying to lose weight, hard to have enough energy under those conditions. But if you have a general need for "energy" when you're not cutting, that indicates a large problem. Either it's just motivation or you need to eat better and/or sleep more. Some days you'll just be dragging and taking something can help, but relying on energy supps every time you work out is probably not a good idea.

Also seems like a lot of people want to be just wired out of their minds every time they go to the gym. I got wired enough after a set or two of a heavy lift, didn't really seem necessary to get a chemical high on top of it.

Coffee has benefits other than energy though - preWO caffeine has been shown to help with DOMS, increase calories burned, etc.
