What are the benefits of high-end soap and shampoo?

I saw the thread on Jack Black products and am wondering if I'm missing out on something by not using better soap and shampoo. I just use Lever 2000 soap and Head & Shoulders shampoo.

I think all "cheap" shampoo's basically have the same ingredients in it, which are also many of the same ingredients in body wash, so they aren't suppose to be good for the hair.

Cheap soaps are suppose to be drying, but at the end of the day I think Jack Black just want's to sell their products.

Mainly the smell and the quality of ingredients/organic/etc.

There are several reasons someone might want to avoid mainstream shampoo, like toxins, ineffectiveness, bad quality, damaging, etc. A lot of "high end" soaps/shampoos have ingredients just as bad but maybe add oils and special terms like "natural". Hugo Naturals makes good ones that are mostly plant oils.

Hair cleanses itself naturally and harsh ingredients may strip hair of its natural oils. Many times all that's needed is a cold rinse or washing with some jojoba oil.

As far as shampoos, it's really a crapshoot and depends on the formulation of the ingredients.

I think quality of shampoos and conditioners depend upon the its brand. It can be suitable as per everyone's hair.  We cannot say which will suit on a particular type of hair.

Molton Brown Black Pepper body wash.

My one grooming recommendation.

Expensive? Perhaps. But it lasts a long time, and smells amazing.
