Could someone tell me the name of this weave/pattern?

Thanks

This pattern is called 'Houndstooth' and it is available in different sizes.

Thank you. Here's how I'm planning on using it. But I need to figure out some other shirt/tie combinations.

yeah that shirt and tie aren't stellar with the jacket. I'd definitely seek out other options.

I still a newbie at putting together jacket/shirt/tie combos. I turn 40 in Feb. and I've decided it's time to start dressing like a grown-up :-)

The photo isn't great. The actual colors are a bit darker. Can you describe what it is about the combo that you don't like?

The shirt, while not the best match, will work but try a dark green tie if you have one and snap a photo.

The shirt and tie are both just not very nice. Try a lighter shirt and a tie that's less matchy and less ugly.

Earth tones tend to go with each other; that shirt and tie are not.

I stumbled across this thread, and is a great reference for a brown sportcoat:

Do a burgundy or yellow tie with this shirt. The tie may or not be patterned as you like. Play with these options and snap away.

I don't have a burgundy tie, but here it is with a yellow tie.

Perhaps not very euphemistic, but SM is correct.

That shirt is much better, and I like the tie combinations. A green tie would also work well.

Now to the nitpicky stuff, but your shirt has narrow stripes, while your tie also has small patterns. The sportcoat is houndstooth, which is also a small pattern. 3 small patterns together can be a bit disorienting on the eyes. Your original choice of shirt, while a bad colour, actually has a better pattern for the combination. Do you by any chance have ties with the same colours but large, bold patterns? I'm thinking paisley, regimental or even plain ties. Alternatively, if you have another shirt with similar colours but wider stripes (or none), swap that in instead.

My $0.02. It's fun using others as mannequins.

OK, here are some other ties I have with a solid blue shirt.

^^^ Much better! All of these combinations work. Have you any pocket squares?
