As I remarked earlier in this thread, I wonder whether the Florida "skunk apes" might have some foundation in fact given that there are colonies of wild monkeys living in Florida and many tropical animals survive in its mild climate, e.g., those awful pythons. Thus, I suspect at least some of these reports could be based on sightings of large monkeys or escaped known apes like chimps and orangs. A Florida cop was told me of being involved in shooting an escaped chimp.
I just heard that authorities in Florida were trying to hunt down a couple of Nile crocodiles there, much more dangerous than the indigenous gators or American crocodiles. Why anyone would want a Nile crocodile is beyond me, but there are some strange people who like "living on the edge" with big cats or venomous snakes.Edited by JLibourel - 12/16/12 at 11:54am
