Price difference is about $130, but its not really a deciding factor

thanks

Oh hell yeah those are nice, but I don't need the shell and don't love the price. In calf for a similar price to the other two and I'd be on board in a second.

It will really come down the the lasts.............if you prefer a sleeker, more chiseled shape then go for the Simpson.

to be honest, the lasts look quite similar to me.

thats why i was hoping for a picture comparison.

This.

(same for me)

I have the first pair and really like them. Definitely my favorite pair.

Both lasts sport a chisled toe. The Rain last is wider than the Simpson - I take a 9.5 UK in the Rain and a 10 in the Simpson. The Rain is not blobby by any means, though.

The main difference (for me) is the color and what you need/prefer. I have the cordovan shoes in question and they are very, very nice. I've worn them quite a bit and for some reason there is none of the aggressive rippling that one often sees in other cordovan shoes (which I'm not a fan of.) I prefer their color (burgundy) to brown calf in a dress shoe. In a less formal shoe, like a blucher, I prefer brown.

Look at my sig. The two wingtips are on the Rain last and the others are on Simpson. Simpson has a narrower, and more chiseled toe box, yet both are sleek in their own ways.

Neither is really my style, but of the two, the first by a mile.
It's quietly elegant.

Coming soon. Just paid for a pair of double monks in the Simpson last, will keep you posted. Should be another week before I get my hands on them though.
