Nintendo Wii - Page 2

Got mine on launch day as well (pre-order).. I freaking love it - currently addicted to Rayman Raving Rabbids and Zelda.

I didn't know they were supposed to be that hard to get still. I walked in just after new years and bought one off the shelf. Guess I was lucky.

As for playing, I'm still at the stage where I need to try out every game before buying them. Pretty much sampling them all through GameFly, but if I like one enough (so far I like SSX Blur the best) then I can buy it off them at a discount.

I might just wait and save the money for an Xbox 360.

I've never owned a dedicated console but have always been a computer gamer, from an Amstrad CPC 464 through my Amiga(s) to the PCs, but I am seriously considering the Wii. I mean, I can't (or shouldn't) afford do get one but the temptation for my wife (she is a reformed ex-gamer) and I to go nuts zapping deranged rabbids is getting greater and greater...

How about a review kronik (especially interersted in the multiplayer components)?

You know I'm not much of a console gamer, though I do care about the market. However I sit down and play Wii at least once a day, and that's a LOT for me. I love this thing, and its constant entertainment at parties. People love the Wii Sports game that comes free with it - particularly bowling, which is easy to learn, hard to master.

Is this really the most recent Wii thread? So, my daughter is getting a Wii for Xmas this year, and I want to get her another game. Any recommendations for an 8 year-old? It can't involve fighting. I was thinking of Mario Kart or maybe Lego Harry Potter. Preferably, it would be a game that I might play, not some stupid dancing game.

the lego games are actually pretty cool. i've only played star wars and batman but i'm sure harry potter will be a good choice for both of you. it's easy enough but they usually have plenty of side missions and in-game achievements, etc. to keep it interesting. also, metroid: other M is titties.

I would generally advise against the Lego games. For one, they aren't Wii exclusives. Also, there are far too many Lego titles with varying degrees of quality. IMO most are duds.

Go with Nintendo for quality assurance. Mario Kart is quite brilliant. It's probably the quintessential Wii title. New Super Mario Bros. could stake a claim (unfortunately, you can't pick Peach, but she is present in the story). Both are games anyone would enjoy. I love both.

I haven't played it (not yet available in Australia), but I imagine your 8yr old daughter would fall in love with this. The presentation is something else. You don't have to worry about the quality of the game because Nintendo worked closely with the developers to give them something comparable to the classic NES experience. It's one of the characters Nintendo truly care about. It's getting great reviews.

+1 on epic yarn. I wish I had games like that when I was a kid.
