What do people think of RFK's single curved cuffs? Would it be worthing getting some shirts
made with this detail?

I think that they look like button cuffs turned into french cuffs.

Plus, Bobby was an annoying scold.

Jack wore Charvet.

Umm, french cuffs are folded over. These are called single cuffs and made that way, not converted. I like them.
EDIT: Did Bobby say something that hurt your feelings?

Also known as link cuffs.

I'm really considering going with link cuffs for my next round of shirts because they are easier to wear with jumpers (they don't stretch the sleeve end so much). I know that they are required for white tie and so in that sense could be considered ultra formal. One supposed advantage is that they can be heavily starched but in the picture it doesn't look as though RFK has starched his too much.

KObalto:

Scold: One who persistently nags or criticizes.

I was two when he died. It"s not about my feelings. And the cuffs are ugly.

Yeah, I agree- they look good. Interesting detail.

Oh- and RFK's speech on the night MLK was killed was majestic: that single act puts him on the short list of American greats.

They're just link cuffs guys - its a pretty standard option at any custom shirtmaker. Used primarily for formal shirts paired with dinner jackets,.

Yes, I am familiar with the term, hence my asking if he said something to you that upset you. At common law, a woman who berated her husband publicly could be criminally charged as a "common scold". Alas, this did not work since, as we all now know, there is no cure for the common scold. rimshot.gif
RFK had his share of faults but there was also greatness in him. Look at his evolution from HUAC attorney to civil rights champion.
There's nothing wrong with single cuffs, as stated they are de rigeur for white tie. Apparently you are just unfamiliar with them.

Thankfully, I am.

There is an existing thread on this topic, with some interesting discussion.

And I've a couple of shirts with single link cuffs -- they are great, but not very flexible. I always feel quite conscious wearing them outside of formal occasions.

This type of cuff is very common in English RTW brands.

Nothing wrong with those cuffs, like nothing wrong with double or barrel cuffs.

There's nothing wrong with them but personally I would keep them, well starched, for day or evening formal dress.
