I have a friend that has the same issue with you the only suit he fills out is one from Top Man (Top Shop), where they make ridiculously slim suits.

With that said, I don't think you'll ever get a nice high quality suit (talking RLPL, Isaia, Brioni, Kiton, Borrelli, etc.) that will fit you well. I'd suggest you bulk up, it's worth it!

I can assure you this was true at the downtown Chicago NM. They also had a grand total of one 38 blazer, a camel Zegna that actually fit me great, but I don't need a camel blazer. They did not offer to have a suit shipped in, and I would have declined anyway since I am in downtown Chicago infrequently. I agree, NYC is the best place to shop in the country, but he gave a specific reason why San Fran was better for finding smaller-sized suits, which I'll PM it to you if you are interested.
