is it possible to shorten jacket sleeves with working button holes?

I found a really nice vintage suit a while back, but the sleeves are a bit too long, and it has working buttons. can a tailor shorten them for me and still keep the working buttons?

yes, do it at the shoulders. Do a search there are numerous threads discussing it. A little more costly and you'll need a better tailor to do it typically.

+1 to what the others said. Can be done, has to be done from the shoulders. Make sure you have a good tailor. It will be somewhat expensive.
