WTF does that mean?

LOL, don't let it get to you too much, Gabe. A lot of folks here have a real dry sense of humor, and the forum medium may affect how something comes across.

I'm going to "hijack" your thread here and solicit feedback on this brief:

It means that if you buy a messenger bag and use it all the time you will end up looking like this:

If you must have a shoulder strap, get a regular briefcase with a strap. And don't use the strap. People who saunter down the street or on the train with their shoulder bags banging into other people as they jaw away on their mobiles are cockends. And they are ruining their backs.

If I am wearing a suit or say just a shirt and have something that goes over my shoulder, I get agitated at the thought of creases in my clothes.
I regard anything with a shoulder strap as something casual and think they look better with smart casual or casual clothes.

THIS.

Also, there is the implication of how much you have to schlep versus your status. The lower on the totem pole you are, the more you have to schlep. Rather like how in high school you carried around less books as a senior, or how a barrister is never seen in court carrying his own papers.
