This happens with all SF SW&D brands. Quoddy, Filson, Red Wing, Alden...
Once a brand gets SF approved the price jumps or any coupon codes/secret discounts get taken away.

or it could be that the new ones are a different design than the old ones and that's why they're priced differently...?

Raising prices like this won't do Everlane any good. They should know this by now.
Their main selling point was their prices. The weekender was obviously overpriced. It still hasn't sold out in any color even with Britney Spears, GQ, and the New York Times endorsing it.
I originally brought into the hype and planned to buy 2 of the weekenders. After waiting a couple days I decided it simply wasn't a good deal. Target has a canvas weekender with a leather strap for $25 or $10 when it goes on clearance. ASOS and Topman also have similar made in China bags for <$40

Edit- FWIW the original backpack was a good deal for me at $50. I use it almost everyday.

As much as it pains me to write this I have to agree. There is a big difference between a $50 bag and a $65(mentally almost $70) bag. unless their manufacturing or shipping costs went up drastically I dont think it's a smart move. Regarding the weekender, I bought one, haven't received yet but I'm already having buyers remorese. $95 is too much for a canvas bag with crappy leather handles. My wife has the tote bag and while she likes it her complaint is with the leather straps. They are not great quality and she gets brown residue on her shirts after using the bag. It appears the weekender has the same straps but maybe I'm wrong.

I love (shirts especially) Everlane and think the concept is great but they need to stay the course with pricing.

I got the Made in USA tote for my GF. The brown residue has been an issue for her too. laugh.gif
However, the price on the tote was reasonable. $35 Made in USA totes with some leather can't be found anywhere besides Etsy.
