Everlane T-shirts - Page 70

It's not like they specifically and intentionally excluded you. They pulled the oldest 250 registered emails and 250 more at random from top 1000 spenders. I just don't understand why you feel entitled to the insider program. 250 people (and even 500) is not many at all given their customer base, so it's inevitable that many top customers will still be excluded. Perhaps you can take it to PM with Nan and it sounds like he could possibly tell you exactly what # you are in terms of spend and account age?
Aw damn, will have to wait for the general release to get the weekender.
I do not feel entitled, I could careless about being early bird.

If that is the case I do not see why Nan would announce that here. Is there really a huge percentage of members on SF that actually made it to the % out of XXX? It just seems like the same people who initially PM'd Nan for access to the shop also received extra perks. That is my whole point.

To add, it seems the thread picked up steam when people started to PM Nan to be added and received credit to spend. That is lol worthy

Yeah I actually discovered Everlane through KPCB, and if you have KPCB money, you should be pretty damn good

As our userbase grows, the number of people in the 1% will grow as well.
We really appreciate the community here on SF and that's why I maintain this thread. Typically, I publish big drops here 12+ hours ahead of the general email and other things like that - if there's anything more I can do for you guys - totally open to suggestions.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'm not a big Everlane customer and probably wouldn't be buying the everlane weekender anyways, was just curious how the system is set up. It's not just the weekenders, I didn't get the backpack email / link neither. When I signed up it was before they had products out and I did spam a little bit on twitter and the like to get more people on Everlane. While I may not have been the first 250 or so, you should still have a cleaner cut system. Like Mr. Porter's founding member cutoff or something like that where you have a clear requirement. I've interned at many startups before and an excel spreadsheet of all users can be filled with errors and things like that.

I'm sure most users do appreciate you posting about drops early and it's more than any of us could ask for. I am with gettoasty about how it seems like some users who PM'ed Nan earlier may have gotten put on a better list? They probably signed up early as well too but that's what happens when you have these types of programs. Look at Yoox and their current promo right now. Whoever's in the lead has got to be gaming the system and when it ends whoever loses is going to complain. Hard to really get out of it. Tres Bien is pretty good in that sense, where anybody who participates gets a "no-win" code, therefore incentivizing you to
continue with their promos

Alright man, just do your thing then fistbump.gif

I don't even really like their shirts... but I did PM Nan for free stuff.
I waited like a plebe when I signed up a while ago. Was I supposed to PM? foo.gif All good, I'm glad Everlane is growing.

I didn't get any 'insider' emails until this one, and I doubt I received some special flagging in the system as a SF member that let me in when they did this new round. So far there have only been two people who posted about getting the email. Kinda regret even posting about it now.

I don't think it's that either. I was late to the game by a couple months. I missed the backpack link.

You make some good points. The users who got into the program here were randomly selected from the top customers, the insider list is pretty untouchable internally for us to the point where I don't really mess with it. I have little doubt that every active member on this thread will eventually get added to the program, simply because SF guys have a higher % chance of being great customers.

We are starting to make an effort to reduce the gam-ability of our referral system and especially the insider program. Every member we let in on it is actually hand verified to some degree and we plan on having a level of communication with them on par with the bandwidth that I have here.

Hah... I just read through the thread. I guess I was confused. I had no idea that there was an "insider" program. I thought an insider was someone who met the 50+ referral mark. I don't really mind the insider thing as long as there is a general release shortly after and nothing is exclusive to "insiders". In a way aren't all SF members and those who browse this thread some form of "insider" since Nan posts updates well before social media feeds? jussayin
post #1046 of 3353

I am now an insider.  For reference, I joined in Feb, and have since made 8 orders totalling just under $500.  Thats kinda scary seeing as how the most expensive thing I've purchased from them is a $40 belt.  I really like everlane... haha

I signed up pretty early from what I remember, but I didn't send any email because I consider the marketing technique a spray and pray method. I did and do continue to recommend their shirts to everyone of my close friends and people who ask me about t-shirts.

I think I should get free shirts for marketing shog[1].gif jkjk

The pre-launch will have 2 of the 4 colors available limited to 500 total units, so the full launch will have more colors and inventory. We just wanted to give our return customers an early shot at it.

since I'm a pleb, I will settle for pictures!!!

I wish the v-necks would lie flat and that the bottom of the shirt did not flip up.

I'm pretty happy with email alerts -- I signed up pretty early but didn't buy anything till a few weeks ago -- my wife is really looking forward to T-shirts. (I actually think Everlane's women's shirts are a bigger deal given my wife's constant bitching about not being able to find good cheap T-shirts).

I will say that even though it's probably a pain for Everlane to hand-verify "insider" status, it's worth doing, as is continuing to maintain this thread and respond promptly to questions, no matter how silly or repetitive. Just take a look at the Epaulet or OSB threads and see how excited people are just to get a personal response, not to mention a heads up when new stuff drops. It may be just a tiny fraction of sales etc, but it's absolutely true that the best advertising is a satisfied customer.

And just like getting buybacks at your local bar, throwing in a free T-shirt once in a while or a $10 gift card will go a long way. Just sayin'...
